We had our first snowfall of the year, and it sucks. I used to be more tolerant of the snow and cold, but as I got older, I just had no use for either. Luckily, it was only about 3 inches, and it was melted by morn. I took my snow blower in over a month ago, I just couldn't get it going. The electric starts that they put on the blowers these days are horrible. I don't lean on mine, and pull start when ever possible, but mine burned out in less than 2 years, and I only used it a handful of times. They are too small, and I guess, it's a way to make $$$$$$$$$. I have to keep 2 blowers running in the winter. Bad part about owning more than one property. You pretty much have to have 2 of everything, unless you want to do a lot of hauling back and forth. I envy the warm weather crowd...........I could eliminate a lot of my possessions:)

Amen brother.

I used to love and laugh at snow and winter roads. At one time I had 3 4x4's in the driveway. All well maintained and ready to go anywhere anytime. Tow straps, jumpers , the whole nine yards.

NOW. Not so much. Don't like the cold, hate icy roads and it's a very bad thing if I get stuck. Impossible for me to get out and if I do get out I'm probably not going anywhere anyhow.

Work knows if it's snowing, I ain't coming, not worth it.

Funny thing is I'm up top of a hill, small mountain to you flat landers. I can have 6"s of snow and none at work 15 minutes away. Course it's gone the other way a time or two also.

We're getting a little snow now, hoping it don't amount to much. Getting up that hill is the big challenge.

Living in the city, I always get lake effect snow(Lake Michigan), so it adds on to the piles. Up nort, I'm kind of in a belt.....more rain and ice than snow, although we still get our share. Luckily, my driveway is gravel and flat. I usually can drive right over the top of the snow without having to snow blow. I do live by the second and fourth largest lakes in the state, so I get some kind of lake effect up there also.

We drove from Manistee MI to Kalamazoo MI last night, straight down the middle of a lake effect band the whole way. Not a fun drive! My winter volunteer gig is a Ski Patroller at our local "mountain" so I'm really happy to see the snow but that was a long first snow drive of the season.

I told you guys once before, Florida. Wouldn't want to be south in the summer, but it is great in the winter for a couple of months. Depending on how far south you choose to go in this country you can have almost any temperature you want, from mid forties to mid eighties. Take advantage of it.

I'll give you one reason why WE don't go...............because that's where everybody goes. I've spent half my life trying to escape a holes, not join them. Pop. of Wisconsin 5.77 million...........Sq. miles 65,556......Pop. of Florida 20.77 million....Sq. miles 65,755. I'll shovel a little snow.............................................. .....

You must be under 45 in age......................after that, there is nothing to look at but shriveled schlocks, wilted hanging nipples, and other things that shock the system:o

Don't see no harm in looking myself. I'm kind of shy though. Just wonder where they conceal their pistols, I was never a fan of open carry in urban areas.

Bone - if you only knew how silly that sounds to anyone who ever spent more than 10 minutes at a nudist resort. Besides...I just got my medicare card a couple of weeks ago.

There is a lot more south then just Florida. In Florida you get away from the tourist and retirement areas the people are country and much like Wi north woods.

We'll be getting our 5th or 8th snow tomorrow into Wed. We haven't gotten much accumulation yet and what has fallen is has mostly melted off. However, this next storm should drop a bit more than what we've been getting and I don't see the temps getting high enough to melt much if any off. Single digits for the highs the next few days with lows below zero.

I'll take the winters up here over the summers on the gulf coast any year.

Here’s my solution to the problem, Zero-turn with 4 ˝ foot cut. Sitting and no pushing for this old back. And I did get thru 30" of snow with it last year

That's awesomesauce! I want one!
I'm pondering one of the zero turn deals myself. My conventional rider is pretty used up. Big time oil leak for the second time.

Something like that I might actually hope for snow and maybe be a good neighbor and go around clearing folks drive ways. Maybe even make a buck or two.

We get snow once in a while out here in the boondocks. One of our new neighbors is terrified of the prospect of snow or ice. Makes you wonder why they moved here. I guess they lived in fantasy land long enough to lose all grip on reality...

I'll swap my never used, brand new snowblower for that old wreck you have.

Ummmm, that was to HarryLee, not you Bills.

It even has electric start and a warranty!

I'm a wonderin how you get into that contraption. I don't see no doors, maybe climb through the rear hatch. Great rig for a paper route.

I like that Harrylee set up a lot. He's plumb good and figuring stuff out ya know?

It's hard not to marvel at a fresh, white snowfall. My father would say snow is fine, if it would stay off the roads.

The Zero-Turn snow blower set up is really good, just make sure that the yard is clear of any would be flying projectiles and put markers for what ever you don’t want to destroy! Such as a water supply that come straight out of the ground, so how do I know this you ask. Didn’t have a marker on it and bang off goes the valve, thought I was safe I had the water turn off in the house, well the wife comes running out of the house about 10 minutes later, she went downstairs for something and water was running everywhere. Sh!t!! well ended up I pushed the whole pipe in towards the house and broke the pipe inside, of course right over my desk with all kinds of paper work on it. At least I had all the pipe fittings and torch to repair it. So that’s my screw-up story for the day :behindsofa:

Damn Al, that's one hell of a nice view. Make a guy not wanna ever leave home.

More incentive for a visit too, appears your on the east side of the lake?

Couple spots over on Curlew Lake I'd love to own if I didn't have to work or go anyplace. I'd never get anything done looking out the window or sitting on the deck checking out the view........

Perfect would be lake view on one side and shooting range on the other. That's plumb wishful thinking right there.

We are on what is called the north side of the lake, in Manson really. I have quite a bit of yard away from the lake, but not enough for real guns. Airsoft maybe. I've been inviting you by for years now, and would love to have you by!

^^^ my one and only takeaway from a visit to Key West: clothing optional is not always a good thing. Just sayin'. Enjoy your trip home AIRret. Smiley and I are going down to Fla over New Years. Just for a few days. We need to warm our cores before we hunker down for January and Feb in NE Ohio.
