View Full Version : Barrel rests very low in slide...should I be concerned?

I have put over 300 problem free rounds through my PM9, but noticed that the barrel sits really low in the slide when closed and open.
I have attached a pic/link.
Does anyone think this is an issue (maybe wear on slide or barrel) that I should have a gunsmith look at?

Doesn't look like an issue to me........................................my MK looks the same way, and it's not polymer........................................... ........

That's room to allow the barrel to tilt. Much tilt in a very short barrel.
If you can rack the slide and watch the front you'll see what happens.
Normal in all respects and all Kahrs appear about the same.

It is the same when being racked...always leaves that large gap at the top.
If everyone seems to think its ok, I wont be concerned.

Pull the slide back and lock it and I bet the gap moves to the bottom. If you could look at the inside of the slide the top would be tight and the bottom would have a gap. If the hole was not relieved on the outside on the top and the inside on the bottom the barrel would jam in the slide or else you would have a huge sloppy hole. If you remove the slide and pull the barrel you should be able to see what I am trying to tell you about the hole.

still leaves a large gap up top and doesnt appear to be any additional space on the bottom.
Again, if this is fine, thats ok...but my M&P 9mm and SA XDm 45 are definitely not like that.

If your really that uncomfortable about it send the pics to service@kahr.com They will look at them and get right back with you, even if your not covered under the warranty. I just looked at mine and they are the same as yours.
Now you got me worried, let me know what they say, OK?!
How does it shoot?

I'm on board with Bawanna
Here are four different brand pistols. The slides on all four have clearance (to varying degrees) at the top of the barrel.

Myke, I'll pay you $300 plus $30 shipping and $30 for your FFL guy. You'll be rid of the gun you don't like and I'll be thrilled. Everybody wins. Yea, I'm a thief, but if it will make you happy, why not?

lol, appreciated. Its seriously only like 1% bigger than a fully featured .380 (I have a bg380) and I get the 9mm power so I will keep it.
Though, if you wanted to pay $400 I could be swayed ;-)
I wrote to kahr customer service to see what response i get...but with hundreds of problem-free rounds through it, I am probably just crazy as its my EDC

The 400 would be a good price, but I already have one with night sights. At 400 plus shipping I could be tempted though. If you have any doubts about lockup stick a dowl in the end of the barrel and see if you can move it up and down. The muzzle of mine looks the same as yours and mine has no movement. Seriously, don't worry about it and carry and enjoy the gun. I have a CW380 and it is a lot lighter 10 vs 14 oz and smaller to. I switch depending on how I dress. With underwood +P 65 gr XD ammo you approach 9mm power. I still believe bigger is better, so I carry the 9 when I can. I also shoot the 9 better than the 380.
