Does security make you feel secure?

Last Friday I went to see Trans Siberian Orchestra at the Resch Center in Green Bay. On the ticket it said no guns or other weapons allowed. So I left mine in the car. The security was a bad joke. They had a crowd of 400 to 500 of us standing out front where we would be vulnerable to idiots that would like to attack a crowd of unarmed people. The back up was because they had people waving wands over us to check for weapons. These guys were not only from the bottom of the barrel, they were not armed (probably a good thing) and did not even have radios to call for help if there was a problem. We reached the wand waver to our right before we reached the one for our line. This guy was standing so far away from his post that anyone could easily walk behind him without getting waved. No one set off an alarm with keys or pocket knives (I had mine) probably due to the extreme distance they kept the wands from us. The wand waver to our left had a guy with a back pack come through while we were near by. He told the guy, no back packs, The back pack guy said so, and walked on in. The wand waver didn't stop him or check his back pack. Why bother to expose us to the cold and wind and possibility of attack when they did nothing to enhance our safety? I'd have felt safer even without my gun if I knew that there were others around that were legally armed. What BS.

No guns or other weapons wrote on the ticket would have been a deal breaker for me. I would have stayed home close to the wood stove and basked in the glow of my right to be safe and secure and warm.

Plumb cold in Wisconsin this time of year I reckon, never been there myself but I hear it gets gosh durn chilly.

It's real cold right now, but it is suppose to warm up tomorrow. Problem is that a foot of snow is coming with the balmy 20 degree weather.

I no longer attend large concert venues, sporting events, etc. I hope they start to miss us someday and wake up. But I'm not holding my breath.

There's actually legislation in Washington attempting to make it legal to carry concealed firearms in stadiums and event centers.

Few places I might be able to go again if it passes. I'm not very optimistic but the thought that it's even come up is a good sign.

When we were young and raising a family we made it a point to go nowhere our kids couldn't go. Kids are grown and gone. Now I won't go anywhere my gun can't. Haven't felt like I've missed a thing. Usually stay away from "killing zones" anyway. Don't like crowds.

Another twin brother. We followed the same policy. Wife still wants to go sometimes places I'd rather not. Usually knows I don't want to and takes a friend or something.
We never went anywhere our 3 kids couldn't go, we both agreed on that.

I never cared for crowds neither.

I go where legally ccw guns are allowed and when I can't, I go somewhere else where I can or not at all. Gov't buildings, banks and P.O. are the exceptions obviously!

I laughs at my local Costco cause they do not legally comply to where put their no gun placard at! World Market here has non colored nut job style that gets blocked from viewing by the doors. LOL

I dont go out much at all as I prefer the comforts of my home.

I think if "they" scan for weapons they should have locker space to check your weapon. Six Flags in ATL does that. Otherwise, I won't enter.

You need self defense walking from the parking lot to the venue and back, and there's a good possibility of items being stolen from cars. All around a bad idea.

Best analogy I've heard in a while: You can't cut the horns off of gazelles and expect the cheetah to stop hunting them.

The parking is at in the Lambeau Field parking lot which is very well lit and heavily populated before and after the concert. Of course all of the people are unarmed since they are going to the concert. I have a small gun safe cabled to and hidden under the back seat of my car for those times when I must leave my gun in the car. Not great protection from theft, but it will certainly take things a lot more difficult and slow things down. I thought of the idea of a gun check area at such venues but thought no one would ever take the space to do it. Good for Six Flags Atlanta. I carried at Disney last winter. I was in the rip off village, not the theme park area. I don't care about signs. If there is no metal detector I carry. They can kick me out if they happen to catch me.

Green Bay isn't one of your bad places really....................that being said, I don't go ANYWHERE that I can't carry, period. Stopped going to Target stores, with their foolish policies. I go to the mall, because they have it posted at the front door, but there are about 20 other doors with no posting. I just go in one of those. I otherwise ignore any firearm posting, because all they can do is ask me to leave, which I oblige, never to return. Large groups of people are the worst places to be unarmed, and in large groups, these idiots don't miss. I don't attend the State Fair anymore. Now that my wife carries, she has a better understanding of how it is. It's one reason why I like up nort.............carry how you wish, and nobody bats an eye............................................... ....I doubt whether these so called security people were even thoroughly back round checked and or drug and alcohol tested. They'll do it when you apply for a job, but they won't when it comes to supposedly keeping the safety. They're like the guys who drive around the parking lots, watching for crooks...............they call the police when they see something, and they are not armed either. It's like that commercial......." No, I'm not a security guard, I'm just a monitor, I just warn you that a robbery is occurring."

Gun free zones are kill free zones. Like Bawanna, that would be a "deal breaker" for me. My security is my responsibility.

On our way back from up nort, there's a sausage shop that we stop at. It's the first time I have ever seen a sign like this...............it says, " We promote conceal carry for our customers, so anyone who shows a license gets 10% off any purchase." The wife and I both showed a license and got 20% off. That's my kind of store.

Goes in the top of my boot. If it is a metal detector pass thru I produce my hip implant card and waltz right through. Somehow I have yet to ever read the part where it says "no weapons allowed". Bad eyesight can be a good thing.

That's sort of a semi bonus with a wheelchair too. Usually they detour around and they don't seem to want to go through bags etc. Often times they will seek out wheelchairs waiting in line outside and take them to the front of the line which is quite nice.

Ditto on my wife's wheelchair. She can't wheel so I push her around and they almost always have me park her to the side and never look her over. I have to go do the check but she's good. Of course all they have to do is look at her and see how sweet she is and wouldn't hurt a fly. They look at me and probably think check him twice.

I have to figure if the security looks like they should be pushing a cart at Walmart they don't have my best interests at in their minds so I just ignore those no weapons signs and go about my business and nobody seems to notice...If somebody says something then I will gladly take my money and go somewhere else....God gives us only one one chance in this world so at my age I'm starting to be a lot more careful about my last bit of time on this earth.....
