Considering a new addition to my collection of K9 03 Elite, CZ 75 PCR, CZ 83, Ruger SP101, Walther TPH. Another steel gun or a polymer? Like the size of both - MK9 and PM9. Can you guys weigh in on this subject? Which one do you think is better? Smoothness, reliability, accuracy, etc. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

No experience with polymer Kahrs.
My MK40 Elite is amazing :D

Your wide open to personal opinion here so here's mine. You have an advantage in having a K9 so you know the weight which to me isn't an issue. I don't pocket carry so that matters not at all to me.
If you plan to pocket then the PM9 or CM9 is the clear winner. They are super light. The K isn't hugely different in size than the MK so your almost duplicating.
For myself I'd still go with the MK. I have a PM45 I wear in an ankle rig daily and have started belt carrying from time to time. Hardly know it there in either location.
The PM9 would accomplish the same thing for you.
I guess I'm not helping a bit, speaking out both sides of my mouth like I'm running for office.

Have to agree that it comes down to your intended purpose.
Pocket carry? The all steel Kahrs are little bricks in the pocket - LOL!
Personally, I don't like anything more that ~17 ozs in the pocket.
Belt or ankle - the all steel guns are no problemo

Have to agree with the Colonel, for pocket carry PM9 all the way. If for anything else, the MK is close enough to the K9 to not make a whole lot of difference, primarily one round less in the magazine.
I prefer all steel guns, have a T9 to prove it and and a handfull of 1911's. I used to carry pocket carry a S&W model 60 38 snub nose, but the PM9 has taken that role, light weight, one extra round, faster reloads etc...
If you every watch a polymer pistol with high speed photography, you will see the polymer frames absorb a lot of the recoil. I kinda want a MK9 myself, but don't know if I would ever carry it, if I run across a deal though hmm... you never know.
So... to me it seems the answer depends on what you plan on using the new pistol for?
Said a lot, but helped little, might have management in my future.

Definitely I will pocket carry. I have enough guns to hang around my waist and this one will have to serve that purpose. Recently I went to the local gun shop and tried a PM9 Blackened. I have noticed that racking the slide wasn't as smooth as on my K9 and much stiffer. Is that normal, will that improve in time?

I just went thru that decision myself if it helps. I had an MK9 for a while but added a PM9 this year. I like it so much I sold the MK. I figure, if I'm gonna have a Kahr, I might as well reap all the benefits including lighter and thinner...

If your wanting to pocket carry the PM is the ticket.
The PM will loosen a bit as rounds go down range. Not a lot, it will always be a bit stiff but smoother than new.

I carried my mk9 in my front pocket and wasn't bothered by it at all. Actually had to make sure a few time to see if was there. For more 30 years as plumber/fitter and hvac tech so always had a 30ft tape measure on my side. I always wear jeans unless i am fishing. Having the right holster is the key. Sure I like have another one but in the mean time I have to wait awhile now.

^^^ I bought my Kahrs used (already broken in) and cannot notice any difference between racking the PM and the MK. They are designed with stiff springs to enable proper cycling. I wouldn't let that influence my decision. They get smoother in time but remain similarly stiff...a little softer maybe...

I have both and have carried both. While the MK9 is heavier, I just like the way it feels in my hand and the way it shoots.
Both are great guns. You cannot go wrong with either one.

Thanks guys. I like that PM9 I looked at lately but also like the steel. Decisions, decisions.

I got the PM9 with the safety because the trigger is better. I can out shoot my Colt 1911 with it under 20 yards. It is pretty sweet.

I went with the mk9 because I didn't like the feel and appearance of the Kahr polymer. I know there's nothing wrong with it but from my handling and shooting of the polymer ones I knew the all steel was my way to go. Admittedly I am also on an all steel kick so I'm sure that factors in. By the way I pocket carry my mk9 easily.

Another vote here for the PM9 with safety. I bought it for discreet safe carry with lightweight clothing; it is the only Kahr I have, and would not replace it with any other gun for this purpose. I like having a safety primarily for when holstering the gun, and I train regularly to disengage the safety on the draw. The enhanced trigger that comes with the safety equipped model is just a bonus feature to me. Very impressed all around. I carry it IWB with an extended 7 rd magazine in a clip-on kydex holster. The PM9 is a lightweight Houdini gun that just disappears.
FYI, my other carry is a Beretta PX4 Compact 9mm. Though I tend to only carry that in winter months with additional clothing, it is nice though to have twice the ammo on board. Also, notably, I got the PM9 with the safety because I have ingrained the up for fire Beretta safety, and the PM9 safety matches that motion vs a more 'standard' 1911 type down to fire safety. The Kahr PM9 is a great lightweight self defense solution for me.

I'll always take light weight over good looks in a carry gun. If someone is looking at the hole in the end of it they are not going to notice much else.

How often does someone look at the hole at the end of your firearm???????? I have to look at my firearm way more than anyone else, in fact every day. It must be good looking too.
Unless I'm wearing gym shorts, I can't tell any difference in pocket carry between my CM9 and my MK9.
Any kind of belt involved makes it a non-issue. The only pants I wear that make pocket carry tougher are dress slacks. My CW380 takes care of those times nicely.
I will say that the type/brand of pocket holster makes a bigger difference for me, as far as comfort goes. The sub $20 DeSantis Nemesis is by far the most comfortable pocket holster I've ever tried.
