New owner of a CW9 and took her out the first time about a Month ago. Chambered the first round using the slide release and every thing cycled well on each mag until around 50 or maybe the 60th round did not go into full battery using the slide release on the first round. Bumped the slide to chamber and all remaining rounds fed good and fired. I had three more intermittent 1/2 batteries on the first attempt to chamber the 50 remaining rounds I shot and all cycled and fired after I bumped the slide into full battery. Same thing happened on my next trip to the range (100 rounds fired on each trip). Any ideas what maybe causing this? Thanks for any help.

what brand and load are you shooting? new or reloaded? I had a similar issue and started checking the problem rounds with a micrometer. The ammo wasn't as consistent as I thought it would be.

You should be using at least 124 gr. or an ammo with more power. That recoil spring is tight and probably needs some beefier ammo to set that recoil spring.

Make sure that you cleaned and lubed the new pistol before firing it. Also, I will tell you that when I first shot my PM9 new I had 1 FTF at about the 70th round. I cleared it and continued. Now about 3,000+ rounds later it has been completely carefree. Kahrs are tight/gritty out of the box. They shine after being shot a bit.
Agreed on the 124gr recommendation.

I cleaned and lubed my P40 right out the box and cycled it a couple of hundred times. The P40 likes heavier bullets/higher velocities too.

I agree on the heavier ammo. I used the PMC 115gr 9mm during break-in period and didn't have any issues. Not sure what the issue is but I would give it a good cleaning and leave the slide locked open a night or two before you go back to the range. My CM9 was VERY tight out of the box, it was difficult to even disassemble but leaving the slide locked open for a night or two seem to help for me.

I've had that happen a few times when I start getting tired. I just blame it on limp wristing and keep on shooting.

I purchased my CW9 3 or so months ago, and your first range experience bears a strong similarity to mine. With several magazines at hand, the slide would frequently fail to fully return to battery, yet all that was needed to chamber the round was a soft push on the rear of the slide. I experimented with different magazines, different ammunition, even different shooters, and still the problem persisted.
With that in mind, I suspect the problem is your magazine. From what I've been led to understand, Kahr doesn't do the best job when it comes to polishing the feed lips on their magazines. Once the feed lips on all my magazine's were well polished, I no longer experienced any malfunction. Where I was once experiencing this every 5 or 10 rounds, I've since put 500+ rounds downrange without a hitch.
I received a lot of help with this, so I'll link my thread here: http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?29784-CW9-Rounds-are-chambered-halfway
Hope this helps!

Either check your fired cases for scoring on the side walls or put a round in your magazine, then push the round out with your thumb then check. This will tell you if you have burrs on your magazine feed lips.
