I'd been holding off for a long time, but my last range session with my MK9 convinced me that a) 9mm Kahrs are the sweetest-shooting EDC pistols I have handled, and b) my MK9 is great for regular clothing days but is tough to carry on days when I don't wear a belt.

So I started poking around on every corner of the web, and finally scored a deal on Gunbroker...I won an auction for a NIB PM9 with the black slide for $400. Picked it up from my LGS today, and....WOW! She's a beauty, and SO much lighter than the MK9 (unloaded, it feels nearly as light as my Remington RM380, with a nearly identical profile).

I'll give it a good clean and lube tomorrow night, work the slide over the next few days, and then it's off to the range next week to start the break-in process.

I'll check back in shortly with a progress report....

Great price for a great pistol. I pocket carry one all the time.

Okay, my first visit to the range with the new baby is finished. I ended up shooting 200-240 rounds, using both the magazines that came with the pistol and a couple of extended mags from my MK-9.

The polymer is a bit snappier than the steel with Speer Gold Dot 124 grain rounds, but manageable and not at all uncomfortable. I added a Hogue grip before shooting, and I think it helped handling quite a bit. The trigger was very good. Not quite as buttery as my MK9, but I expect it may smooth out even more with a few more range visits.

I got two FTF in the first 50 or so rounds, but after that it was smooth sailing.

I can't believe how dirty the gun got, and am amazed it continue to fire reliably after getting that gunked-up. That's a good sign. I got her spic-and-span again, and plan one more range trip to confirm reliability. I think 100 rounds will do it this time. After that, assuming similar performance, I think I've got myself a new EDC.
