What are thoughts on adding Smith and Alexander magwell to carry commander 1911? Is it an improvment worth doing?

I do not care for magwell's on carry guns ( I use thin grips) , others do. Only you know, what you like.

I've never tried one. I don't think I would on my primary everyday carry. Maybe on one I carry now and then.

I don't see reloads as a major issue although it certainly could be.

I've never seen the need in a c.c. piece. However I tried one on my competition IPSC 1911 and I didn't like it. I had to extend the mag base to much for my liking. So I cut the grip and welded on mag wells. IMHO that's what I would have someone do for you

Magwells have some advantages as a competative shooter I like them for what they are intended. I do have one of my carry 1911 fitted with one that you have mentioned my compettition ones are much bigger but if you are in that kind of fire fight a magwell will help with speed reloads hope to never be in that kind of fire fight. Some people especially thos who are concerned with printing and deep concelment willnot like them for the marginal benefiet on a cc piece. I open carry often and even when im concealed I really dont care if it prints.
