Well, I've had the Tristar C-100 for about 4 weeks and 300 rounds now and it needed an update. The grips were OK but THICK! So I researched thinner G10 grips for CZ Compacts. Came up with what seemed like a good deal and they came in today.

Grips are much thinner. Need to get some thin, flat grip screws and I should be good to go.

Wow! Vivid is an understatement. Those look absolutely smashing!
I like contrast and you nailed it big time in this case.
Do they feel good as they look?

At first glance, I thought the new grips looked a bit garish, but the more I looked at the photo the more I liked them and now agree with the Colonel...."absolutely smashing" on that Tristar
I also like that texture pattern and the thinness. I wonder if the source has anything similar for a full size 75B.

They feel really good. Deep texturing with smooth ridges make the grips really nice. Good grip but not abrasive. Had to do some minor fitting on the rear of the right grip panel (sand about the thickness of a sheet of paper) so it was as flush as I like it.
The pictures dont really do the color justice. At first I thought it would look like "Creature from the Black Lagoon" but the color is a nice Black and OD Green with a touch of grey. It fits the firearm.
They do make full size grips. Here's the full size "Arizona" version of Snake Scale texture. I would have maybe got those but they didn't have them in a compact size.

I have a couple CZ75 critters those would fit on. I know they aren't 1911s, but they are some of my favorites.

I've had a hankering for a CZ of some flavor for quite a spell. Common knowledge round these parts.
The 1911 isn't the do all end all......well I guess it is but there's definitely room in my life for a CZ too.

Darn it, I shouldn't have listened to you two devils.
I went ahead and ordered the"Arizona" grips, but hedged my bet by also ordering a set in the pattern yqtszhj put on his Tristar (albeit in a different color scheme).
While I like the texture of the "Arizona" grips, I must admit I'm not as enthused with the coloring. On Amazon, the grips are called "Coyote Color" and I feel the photo of them on Amazon supports that.
http://i68.tinypic.com/28lrznc.jpg
I think the grips I received look more flat dark earth than coyote. They certainly are not as appealing to me as those in the Amazon photo. Oh well.
http://i64.tinypic.com/34nieiw.jpg
The grips in the starburst pattern are much closer to how they are advertised on Amazon. I probably would have been happy with just them had I only ordered them. However, when compared to the "Arizona" set: I like the texture on the Arizona grips better. The "Arizona" grips are also a bit thicker which I find myself liking more.

The red grips do fit a little better than the Arizona grips, where one panel has a little wobble and a bit of rock. A dab of super fixed the wobble and I'll let them sit on the pistol a while to see if the rock goes away or needs the super glue treatment.
FWIW, the red grips came with fancy screws, o rings, and a wrench.
http://i63.tinypic.com/ofawl2.jpg
Bottom line, the grips will do and I'll keep both sets around for the moment (leaving the FDE set on my CZ75).

Greg

I like those coyote tan. The red are nice too.
my right grip wobbled a bit but some 1000 grit sanding on the back made it lay flat.
fyi, my wife said i should get the OD Green for mine that I got cause it looked better and I think she may be right, but the red you got was my first pick and I like those too.
Glad I could influence you in the same way that you influenced me in the past. :)

I'm partial to the Arizona's myself. The Red only hums for me.
The snakes have a certain puzazz! Not overly flashy but classy.
Call now Al.
I can't decide if I should order the grips and hope I get a CZ someday or get the horse before I buy the halter.

Well, I can't help myself...here are the Arizona grips after some sanding, bead blasting, and staining (Old English Scratch Cover and some ink):

I like even more now. I liked em before but you made them better.
If you did that bead blasting there must be different materials in the makeup of the grip so the color is through out?
By removing a layer you got a different color underneath. Wonder how they do that?
Definite improvement. You have a very discerning eye.

Colonel sir:
They lay different color layers to make the grips. I used glass bead to roughen up and even out the finish. It wasn't aggressive enough to remove any layers. Sanding removed what was left of the black layer in the center of the grips. The newly exposed layers are still the same color as before. So, I stained them with the Old English and a wood touch up pen. I think a more aggressive stain, like RIT dye, would darken them too much.

Greg

I still want the single action version. Here's a photo hanno posted on a another forum (https://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367440) of his:

You might notice the thumb safety sits a little lower and the beavertail a little higher on these :)

Yeah, I like the ergonomics of the single action better two.
Go ahead and get one of those. Order another set of Arizona's for that while your at it. Don't wait for devil # 2 to back me up on this, go for it.
And would you knock off the sir stuff, I'm a nobody, been a nobody all my life, that sir stuff might make me mistakenly think I'm a somebody ya know? Confuse me and such.
I'm off to gunbroker to look at CZ's. See ya over there.

Now I really am confused.
Both on Colonel Darlin and CZ's.
I thought I was set on a PCR but looking I find the CZ75 Compact kind of nice looking. No rail model.
I'll have to look some in person I guess to see what grabs me.
You order that SA yet? And the grips?

Didn't see any used one's on GB, so I'll wait until Davidson's gets the SA in stock, ....probably wait on the grips till I see how it shoots.

Hey, I wanted to say thanks again for the head's up on these grips. As per your advice, I did a little sanding on the back of the grips and all is good now.
Thank you for that as well:yo:

Glad it worked out and those grips now look GREAT!
I wish you wouldn't have posted that picture of that SA. There is a place here in town that has one and I held it a while back. Seems like they wanted $645 for it (and they don't negotiate on any price.) Well it was too rich for my blood then and I wanted a compact (bought the clone), then bought the P-09. Now I've been thinking about that SA but really want a full size DA/SA 75B or SP-01 style. Oh these gun desires are killing me.
I'm trying to convince the wife to buy this purse she wants then I'm going to buy me another one if I can figure out what I want. I'm really liking the compact clone I have and am thinking about the full size CZ clone because of the value.
Then I'm gonna fit it with some grips like yours.

Nice shooting Greg!
Reading this thread "armed" with a new 2017 gun budget is not a very good idea for me. I've wanted a CZ for a while, and the only thing saving me from a purchase is deciding which one to get....

I didn't plan on the last one. Just went out with the daughter to do some banking and questioned if I should go by a sporting goods store. Daughter said lets toss a coin. It was heads so we went.
Well of course I walked by the gun counter and there it was, on clearance, price including tax was less than online before shipping. Well like the wife in a shoe store with shoes on clearance, it came home with me.

One more is out of the question.
Understand?
I really mean it this time. No More Guns!!!
Was thinking about a stainless one...
