I bought a new Kahr CW9 and after I chamber the first round with the slide lock like your supposed to, I then drop the magazine to put another round in, this is where I am getting my problem. Every time I drop the mag the top round is always hanging halfway out and more of the magazine about to fall out. This does not seem right or good but like I said this is a brand new gun and has not had the break in period yet. Any advice would be good because that top round almost all the way out of magazine seems like it would cause a jam if I was just shooting it like that at the range.

I have a number of pistols that do that; it's because the round has staged itself 'nose up' as its reached the top of the stack. Pulling the magazine out strips it farther out.

If the gun runs OK, it's a non-issue.

DH440,
Welcome to the forum:)
My experience mirrors what Larry wrote. I also have a number of pistols that do that and they all run fine.
To quote Larry, "If the gun runs OK, it's a non-issue."

FWIW, here are a few of mine that exhibit the discussed behavior:

I just drop a round in the chamber, hit the slide release and then insert a full mag.

Keep a few extractors on hand. Eventually you'll break one. It's not designed to run over the case rim like your doing.

I know guys that have done that forever with no issues but its risky.

It's pretty much the same with all autos. Glock doesn't recommend it either, emphasized it in a class I tool a couple weeks ago.

If it works for you carry on, just sayin.

Kahr says specifically not to chamber a round by inserting one into the chamber and then releasing the slide. This is very hard on the extractor. It's not designed for that. See the note at the bottom in the photo of the relevant manual page below.

I don't think the OP is talking about putting a round in the chamber and dropping the slide on it. I think, and please correct me if I'm wrong, that he is loading the first round from the magazine, then dropping the magazine to top it back off.

In any event, the feed lip trick on the other post may be useful in this situation to keep the rounds secure. I don't have that issue with my CW40.

I could have swore I specifically read he dropped a round in the chamber but reading it again I agree, he's chambering from the mag properly.

I don't see that the post has been edited so apparently me and Wyn need to be tested for whatever is wrong with us that we don't read stuff right. If it's a new disease we'll name it after Wyn, I'll take the next one.

I don't understand why you think you need the extra round. Just load the gun and leave it alone. My experience with Kahrs is not to add a round, mine always liked to have feeding issues when I did that. One round will not make a difference.
