Hello - I'm new to this forum and relatively new to Kahr pistols, having owned a PM9 briefly about 8-9 years ago but discarding it after a few initial problems. My bad.

I've since decided that the CM9 offers a lot of what the pocket 380s provide, but in 9mm power. Since I bought my new CM9 a few months ago, I've been wringing it out in local IDPA matches and have had a few nose-down jams in the heat of a stage, as well as a few failures to go to slide lock (an issue that spelled the end of my brief love affair with the Glock 43). I thought the slide lock issue was related to my right thumb riding on the slide catch lever, but now I'm not sure.

In order to compete, as well as have spare mags for defense purposes, I bought two 7-round mags a month or so ago and both of them came with the same humpback mag followers. Just a couple weeks ago I ordered a fourth mag - a 6-rounder - and it came with a smooth mag follower, so I assumed Kahr had finally gotten the message and converted followers. That led me to call the customer service guys in tech support and they sent me three new mag followers to replace the original three mag followers. I was dismayed to see the package held just three more of the humpback followers, so I called twice to see if the company had changed to the smooth followers but was told they had not.

From what I've heard, Lakeline sells an aluminum follower with a smooth ramp and on their website they claim it solves not only the nose down jamming issue but also the occasional slide lock issue. Before I shell out $60 dollars for three of the Lakeline followers I was hoping to get some feedback on what the heck's going on? Are they worth the investment? Is Kahr going to a smooth follower?

Having just joined this forum, I see a thread on this issue and I'd like to add my post to the thread, but my only option appears to be including the original quote/post in my response. Are there other options when it comes to adding to a thread?

Thanks for your help. I love this little gun and want to make it my primary CC weapon, but this mag follower issue causes me some doubts.

I have the CM9 and the Lakeline follower. I had a previous bad experience with a Kahr P380 so I was not planning to returning to the brand. I recently purchased a Kahr CM9 on a sale that I could not pass up. I decided to read this forum prior to shooting my first round. I ordered the Lakeline follower, cleaned and followed the break in sugestions on this forum and have not had a single issue with the CM9. I can even load the first round by racking the slide. No issues! I think the follower is well worth it.

Welcome to the forums:)

You see only that option if you are not logged in. Once logged in there will be a quick response block at the bottom of the page. You can post from there or use the "go advanced" button; that will open another window and allow you to preview your post. Alternatively, use the reply with quote button and delete the quote from the message body.

I have the Lakeline follower in my CW9's primary magazine. I believe it's a superior product that makes chambering a round from slide lock with the slingshot method less technique sensitive. It also holds the top round in place better than the OEM follower when carrying the magazine in a pouch or pocket. Finally, it virtually eliminates the chance of a broken front follower skirt. ( http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?29039-How-does-this-work&p=369845#post369845 )

With that said, I still use modified OEM followers in the rest of my Kahr 9mm magazines. They have the same operational attributes of the Lakeline followers, minus the durability aspect (especially in regards to the front skirt)

If I used my 9mm Kahrs more often I would go with the Lakeline follower in more magazines. The exception being my MK9, which has magazines with Kahr's old all metal follower.

Regards,
Greg

Thanks GB. Now it pops up with the reply button as well as the reply with quote.

P.S. - I'm a snowbird who lives near Florence, AZ nine months of the year and three months 'up north'. Love it in AZ.

Never a problem with my CM9, but replacing my CW9 with a Lakeline follower allowed me to use any ammo in weak hand only shooting for 100% function. To me the extra expense is worth it; peace of mind if nothing else. You could just order 1 follower to test.

I agree with the others. I put Lakeline followers in all my Kahrs. I bought a used PM40 and it had a broken follower in the 6 round mag and replaced it with a Lakeline and was perfect. Makes all my mags reliable.

Unfortunately, the Lakeline website says they are out of stock ... no mag followers available.

They will be available next week.

Al - If I could get three of them before Saturday, Feb. 11, I'd install them and shoot the gun in another IDPA match. For me, that is the acid test for reliability, especially when I shoot several mags with my carry ammo (Federal 124 HPs in standard pressure) during the match.

Until they get here I don't know for sure when they will be here. Thanks!

There is a big problem with the Lakeline Followers...they don't make them for the 380 or 45 :) Love them on my PM9!
