Picked up this Talo Edition in .357 today, my favorite caliber (it also comes in .45 Colt), Fit & finish are very nice:

Yeah, that looks great. I should be careful opening threads like this because they can get so expensive.

I've had a Birdshead Vaquero in the checkout basket several times...

Very nice Armybrat! I like those grips. My New Vaquero is still sporting the black plastic grips it left the factory with and, from your photo, it looks as if your grips are a much better fit.
Have you had a chance to shoot it?
Mine is in .45 Colt and I decided to file the front sight down a bit to regulate the sights at 10 yds. with my favorite load.

My son has my Birdshead Vaquero in 45 Colt. I'd love to get a set of stag grips like those pictured for my Uberti Birdshead.
Just makes it look right.
I agree with Greg on those Vaquero grips. The fit looks perfect and I know first hand how difficult it is to achieve that. It don't look all that tough but it's a challenge.

The grips fit better than the first NV I bought 2 years ago, and they are "thicker" than the slim laminated rosewood that is standard nowadays. Am thinking about getting some "bonded ivory" grip panels from Altamont - they are cheap enough and would look nice with the shiny stainless finish.
Love those birdshead grips too. Wouldn't mind having a New Vaquero .357 Montado, but with the BH grip.

You guys are a bad influence. I of course had to visit Altamont. I think the imitation stag would be just SWEET.
I didn't know that did so much other stuff. Rifle stocks, all kind of stuff.
I sent an email as they suggested requesting a notification if they ever do Uberti grips. Almost pushed the button on some Imitation Stag 1911's but managed to roll away.

While Altamont is the supplier of "factory" grips for Ruger, I've read a few complaints from some who reported theirs not fitting too well. I bought the fake ivory and a laminated set for that Super Blackhawk, and they fit pretty good, but not perfect.

Well, for some reason, I am not able to view your picture...maybe not enough posts yet? None the less OP, I'm sure it's a fine looking revolver. Congrats! ;)

You should be able to see the picture. If your posting your logged in. Not sure what the issue is.
There's no minimum post count to view, only to post directly.
I'm seeing it although in some cases I don't and other so, so I usually blame it on technology.

Added some Altamont "bonded ivory" grip panels to my New Vaquero - they look & feel better than the Talo "star" pattern panels that came on it.

Look great and it looks like the fit is very good too.
Wonder if that stuff can be scrimshawed? Looks fine as is, just curious.

I had a set for a different firearm. It seemed that it could be scrimshawed.

I know there's some place up this my direction that does scrimshaw. I did some ivory for another Texan and he sent them back up here and had them scrimshawed.
Good way to make it yours and your alone. I'm stuck what I'd have put on it, would have to ponder some on that. I got some pictures somewhere of the other ivories. They looked super.

Those Altamonts were $28 plus $6 & change shipping, so not too bad.
Speaking of scrimshaw, when my family was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska (Anchorage) from 1940-43 - before my time - Dad made the acquaintance of an old trapper who had come up for the 1898 gold rush. Anyway, Dad bought several walrus ivory artifacts from the old gent who did carving & scrimshaw on the side. Several little animal figures, a little totem pole, a tusk cribbage board, and the handles for a nice 3 piece carving set - plus a "raw" tusk. My brother who was born there in 1941 inherited all that stuff and has it on display in an antique secretary desk hutch. Can't remember if I've posted this pic before - the polar bears are a salt & pepper shaker set:

Ok, just looked at the Altamont website - they offer scrimshaw on the "bonded ivory" & "pearl" grips - lots of examples here:

Probably done by a machine.

I think the Longhorn Steers would fit you well. I couldn't make up my own mind. I liked the stage coach, Geronimo, several others. They sure look nice.

At that price they aren't bad at all for being a fancy plastic, and the two sets of single action panels I've bought from them fit really well.
I liked this Longhorn for a 1911 grip panel, but unfortunately gave my last one (the Springer) away to the middle son for Christmas 2015, and my DIL got the Colt Series 70 stainless repro. Gave the Remington R1 to my North Dakota landman three years ago. BTW - he was totin' that R1 when he visited the big protest camp in the western part of ND a couple of months ago to check it out (the pipeline protesters). He didn't advertise that he worked for one of the major oil companies, so he didn't have any trouble. Some of the oil companies lost a lot of expensive equipment that was vandalized and/or torched by "parties unknown".
Anyway, there's some space in my safe shelves now - gifted my S&W Model 29 and the Ruger Super Blackhawk to my sons for Christmas. Guess another 1911 is near the top of the want list again.

That's precisely the set I had picked out for you too.
Man shouldn't be without a 1911. I support your quest for a replacement forthwith.
Yeah your in Texas if the powers that be wanna hurt me, doubt they'd come this far to do it. Tell em I said it's ok!
If it helps tell them you get the gun, bawanna will get you them steer grips! I'm still owing you, got it all wrote down.
