Okay, been awhile since here. I bought a CW380 last year and although tried to love it, it was so finicky with ammo that I ended up putting it in the safe and forgetting it. I did run about 225 rounds through it last year though and it was getting a little better but not good enough to trust my life to. So, kinda forgot about it.
So, was thinking pocket pistol again and remembered it and brought it out again the other day.
I ordered and installed Magguts for both my mags and found all my ammo and tried it all again today. Here's a small range report. All shot with the two mags of 7 rounds each.
First two mags, Ruger ARX. Flawless performance and very accurate (for this little thing). Was shooting all of this in an indoors range and at 7 yards. Very good grouping in a 6 in circle or so. Had to remember how to aim this thing but it felt terrific and easy to hold and manage. Very enjoyable to shoot.
Now, on to what I knew to be bad... 2 mags of Winchester White box round nose - Horrible. Had to bump the slide like every shot. Just crappy experience. I remembered this from last time.
Next up - Two mags of Sig 90gr V-Crown JHP's. Again, flawless. Very accurate again and nice feeling recoil.
Now, on to two mags of Fiocchi Extrema XTP - Seating issues all the way through both mags. Not fun. Ticked me off. Felt like old times.
Two mags of Hornady 90gr XTP's - Not bad. Only once did I have to bump the slide to seat them. Felt a little better now.
On to two mags of Speer Lawman 95gr Ball - Well, they did okay but not flawless. Had to bump the slide a couple of times. Not bad. The thing is getting dirty by this point. Kinda exceptable at this point I reckon.
Tried to do two mags of S & B 92gr FMJ next - This didn't go well. Just crappy. Nothing wanted to seat and had to force open the slide a couple of times.
This was dirty ammo too. Wow, crap in this gun.
That was all the different kinds I had. I went back through and polished off all the extra rounds I had now. I would guess about 165 rounds total when I was done.
All the ammo that gave me trouble above only got worse. The couple good ones still did great.
The easy winner in the group was the Ruger ARX ammo. Totally flawless for me. Love the stuff. Watched a few reviews and tests on Youtube and it seems legit.
Runner up was the Sig V-crown.
Well, I gotta say, today impressed me with this pistol. It's still a little picky and the slide is as frickin' stiff as I wished I was nowadays but I'm finally happy with it. I would trust it completely with at least two brands of ammo that I tried and that ain't bad. It's hard to find 380 sometimes so there are still a couple brands I want to try. I do wish there was some cheaper ammo to fire a lot but I guess I'm satisfied with today's performance. I got 50 flawless shoots out of two brands and I can trust that.
