I finally got the opportunity to take my PM9 to the range and start breaking her in. I had already done every tip that I had read or seen for pre break in and did a little polishing and sanding here or there on a few parts and on a couple of the new angled mag followers. I had striped and polished every part I could of one of the four 6 round mags and left the others alone.
Rounds Fired: 240
Ammo/Mag Used:
Mag1: Smooth Follower WWB 115GR
Mag2: Smooth Follower UMC 115GR
Mag3: Angled Follower Speer Indp. 115GR
Mag4: Angled Follower Federal AE 115GR
The First 6 sets of 24 were flawless. Not a single jam, miss feed, FTE, FTF, NOTHING.
Sets 7 & 8 were all fired slingshotting or simply racking the slide properly. Flawless.
Sets 9 & 10 Were "Mixed" bag. I purposely mixed all the ammo in each Magazine. I racked the slide on some, slingshotted on another and used the slide lock on a few of them. ALL WERE FLAWLESS.
My wife even loaded several of the mags with my UpLula loader and I know she didn't pay attention to insuring every single round was seated.
The weapon has exceeded every single expectation for reliability I could ask for during this break in period. I will tell you that my accuracy was kind of all over the place for the first 100 rounds or so and is still not great. However, other than 1 or 2 fliers that were my fault, every round would have been a kill shot at 7, 10 and 15 yards. I am sure the rest of the accuracy will depend on me and getting used the smaller weapon, getting a better grip (I am left handed and my shots consistently pulled to the right and getting used to the sights (they are night sights but the jury is still out on the tight/small sight picture. Plus, I was more concerned with breaking it in so I wasn't trying that hard to line up perfectly each time.
Overall 100/100 I could not be happier! Thank you all on this forum for your tips on the break in, polishing, field stripping the mags, EVERYTHING!
