I'll admit I never really found black rifles all that attractive. But these just sing to me. I figure I must be biased since I assembled them myself. That kinda changes a guy's perspective.

Very Nice! But we need details - cal., brands of parts used, optics etc. Really like the co-witness setup.

Yeah, build me one like the bottom. That's perfect and just what I have in mind. You got my address right?
I'm not a black rifle guy myself except almost have to be here at work where the black rifle is pretty much it.
Oh hold the phone......I just noticed the top one has a side charger. Do everything on the bottom but make it a side charger like the top one. OK?

^^^* Well...they are basically mutts = a lot of interweb sourced parts.
The upper upper is a 16inch AR Stoner barrel in .223 Wylde. Nordic Components handguard. Crosshill Technologies side-charger receiver. Nikon 2-7 scope and M-223 mount
the lower upper is a 16inch Radical Firearms melonited barrel in 556. An inexpensive keymod handguard off Amazon. BCM lightweight receiver. Davidson Defense bolt. Mbus sights. Bushnell TRS-25. This set up only weighs 7.6lbs with a sling, light and loaded 30rd mag.
the lower is Anderson with a Rise Armaments trigger.
+ misc stuff I'm forgetting.

Yeah Colonel. I really like the side charger. Still getting used to a regular charging handle. It's tuff to teach an old dog new tricks. :o

I've been playing with the regular charging handle for 20 years and I still find it unnatural and inconvenient.
Don't see many of the side chargers.
I researched the 223 Wylde quite awhile back but durned if I can remember what I discovered. Seems like I liked it but don't remember why. Guess this old dogs memory is on the down hill slope?
I love flip up sights front and back so a guy can go completely simple without a bunch of stuff hanging on it.
Kind of a Mr. Potato Head rifle, you can hang everything but the kitchen sink on them if your a mind too.
Some of the boys here have way too much stuff, too many buttons for my taste.

I don't think side chargers ever caught on. I'm not sure why. They are cool. You can even get ambi ones if you are a lefty.
.223 Wylde has tighter tolerances and, in theory, will be more accurate. But they made the chamber to safely accept 556 also. It's the best of both worlds IMHO.
I really like a red dot. It's just a lot of fun. Fast and nimble in this relatively light rifle. Those flip ups are just there in case I forget batteries. ;)
And it's easy to get carried away with hanging stuff on. I'm trying to stick with the essentials. I don't plan on anything else. But don't bet on it.

Thanks Greg. That means a lot. I built it a while back if you remember. But the parts for the second upper were sitting in a box still waiting for assembly. I finally got around to it.
I'm a convert. These ARs just work great. And all the accessories mate up perfect. I never could get a scope mounted properly on my old Mini14. If they just made AR wood furniture. Hmmmmmm.

Hey. No problem. Building these was the whole point for me. Twas an education and a lot of fun and I recommend it. Even with the mish mash of parts, they run pretty good and that's the icing on the cake.
Thanks.
