Oh man! Ain't she sweet!
Awesome photo's, I love looking at that kind of stuff. Seems like The Old War Horse has a history but I don't remember what it is, are you aware of anything, maybe you told me something before?
I can't help but ponder how bloody hot it must get inside those tanks mid summer in AZ. How hot you say, Damn Hot!

I only know that Ol' Warhorse supposedly saw action in the European theater of WWII.
Here's the other side of that truck:

Man they sure did a nice job on that truck. If I could just lose the chair, throw a mattress in the back and it's road trip city.

The stories of UTTER frustration of trying to get the M247 Sgt. York DIVAD ADS to work and not CONTINUALLY blow up - injuring the troops inside the vehicle...
I worked on the M247 with Ford Aerospace (I was in the U.S. Army Redstone Arsenal Missile Command in Huntsville AL.)
Great idea, PI$$ poor application and government cronyism at it's 1980's ABSOLUTE best.

Great to see that you made it out to the proving grounds.
Did you go on base to the museum as well?

No museum yet MB, the photos are from last year. I was consolidating folders and thought they might be a nice share.

I think they still use the M60s for shooting down potential avalanches in the mountain passes around here. Might be fun to ride with them sometime, but they probably don't do that much.

The convict really liked your photos.
Seriously, you do a great job framing (I think that's what they call it) a picture and getting the lighting right.

You and me both brother Grotman. I found myself looking over the ground and it appears they'd be pretty easy to spot though.
Don't know how fast a snake can go down yonder but I figure I can go a little bit faster if I need to.
Course if I get stuck, I'm snake chow. I throw up a little bit in my mouth just thinking about it.
Probably spiders too, they can move pretty quick too. Maybe I'll just look at Greg's pictures and color myself satisfied.

Born and raised in America.
From generations of midwest farmers.
But I do have a German bloodlines
How many of us are truly native americans?

Great photographs! Thanks for posting - brings back a lot of memories when my Dad was a tank battalion commander in the 2nd Armored Division in 1949 (later acting Regimental CO) at Camp Hood - now Fort Hood. Can't remember if they were equipped with Pershings or Pattons, but I & my brothers got a few rides around the training grounds - lots of fun.
Old trucks? Here's Old Red - belongs to middle son who just towed it to a shop to get it running so he can start restoring it (he's owned it for 15+ years):

That's sweet! I had a 59 but mine wasn't the fleet side. Covered a lot of ground in that ole truck.
I took out the 6, three on the tree and put in a 327 and a powerslide. Box was pretty bad so I ended up putting a flat bed on it.
Sold my mint 66 mustang to fund some fixing up. Never got fixed up and no recollection of where the money went.
Wish I had that mustang today, it would be worth a bit.
Old Red looks like he's in pretty durn nice shape. Paint looks like it might even be ok with a little polish and elbow grease.
Set of wheels and that would be a whole new ball game. Love it!
