I recently purchased a Kahr PM9. I have the model with the enhanced trigger, safety, and LCI. I really love the gun, and like the fact that it has the enhanced trigger and the safety. However, I do not care for the LCI. It causes issues with holsters and gets caught on things quite easily. Has anyone come up with a scheme for removing/replacing with something else, or even modifying the original one (grinding with a dremel or file so that it doesn't contact the casing). Would this cause a problem in anyway?

How is it installed? I have that same gun but don't remember.

It looks to be installed by a roll pin. Should be easy to push out.

Yeah, I was just able to tap out the roll pin and the LCI Body came right out. Should be easy to grind down so it doesn't contact the shell. Does anyone know if there will be an impact to shooting or safety??

There shouldn't be any impact on the gun's operation (unless it was not operating correctly before).

Safety wise: again there shouldn't be any impact as long as you are the only one to handle the gun (as you know the LCI does not function). If you decide to move the gun on at some later date, it might be prudent to have a functioning LCI in place.

Other than helping a buddy remove one from his Ruger MKIII, I usually don't remove them completely, rather I just grind them down to be less obtrusive.

Excellent reply...Grinding it down some would be a preferred option. Any tips on how you do this? I am guessing you grind down the part that contacts the casing, and not the visible part, correct??

That is correct:) I just put it in a vise and file it down. If you don't have a vise, then a piece of sand paper on a flat surface would do. A Dremel or grinder would do the job, but both require much more care.

BTW, welcome to the forums!

Be careful when you take it off, there's a little spring underneath that will pop out and end up in the twilight zone. Don't ask how I know.

So I filed it down today, and now it just barley sticks up. No more holster issues.
