I posted this in the wrong section first time. I pinch my trigger finger on the bottom of the CW9
trigger guard. Can the guard be heated to take out the hump?

I don't know, but that little hump is pretty annoying in my CW45. Looks kinda odd too.

Following cheiffels' lead, I posted a reply in the PM/CM section. If you check it, you will find not only some infinite wisdom, but many correctly-spelled words ;^D

It's plastic, so I imagine with enough heat it can be reshaped. Structural strength afterwards, who knows?

If I may suggest something else:
My trigger finger would be slightly irritated after shooting my CW9. Instead of this being a result of pinch, I found that my finger rubbing on the seam line inside the trigger guard to be the main culprit. I also think the sharp leading edge of the Kahr trigger might have been a contributing factor.
My solution was to eliminate the seam line where my finger rubbed on it and to break that front edge of the trigger.
Here's the trigger guard post op:

Here's the edge I rounded on the trigger:

Perhaps doing one of these (or both) operations might give your trigger finger some relief.

BTW, welcome to the forums:)

Greg

Still, I wonder why Kahr puts that little bump there. Must be a reason..

BTW, welcome to the forums:) Regards, Greg Greg, I did the same thing to my CW380 at the inner surface of the plastic trigger guard. Sanded the whole thing smooth. I may do the trigger edge-- though on the 380, it is actually the top edge of the trigger that gets me.

I had to do that with my Glock 19, for the seam inside the triggerguard was abrading my finger. Thank goodness plastic is so easy to sand/shape and doesn't require any refinishing afterwards. :)

Thanks for all the replies. I'll try some heat and do the sanding idea.

I suggest you try the sanding and polishing approach first. If heat damaged the serialized frame, which defines this as a firearm, it would be, at least, very expensive to replace it. If you check the Kahr website, you will not see frames for sale. Good luck.

Since I posted about the trigger guard fix, I tried some ideas. I lightly and quickly heated the trigger guard on the bottom with a torch on low. Then I took a 1" dowel and beveled the end slightly to get it thru and pushed down on the bottom of the guard. It took out the hump, but it wanted to spring back so I went over it again and let it cool. That worked good. So now it is more rounded on the bottom like most other brands. Next I took my Dremel and sanded a little from the inside, bottom of the trigger. I then polished the trigger to a mirror finish with the Dremel and Flitz polish.
Much, much better. I gained around 1/8" of clearance on the bottom and the trigger slides on my finger much better. My finger still slides on the guard but is not pinching it.
Thanks to all for the suggestions. It works.
Next comes the CW45

I like your idea of using the dowel as a mold. Though I thought it was safer to do it differently, I am happy it turned out well for you. Congratulations on this working.

My guess: it's where the top finger of your support hand is supposed to go.

That's a thought. That could very well be it.

I think it's just a visual Q to identify Kahr models as a Kahr, at a glance, from further away than reading the slide stamping, and has no design function.
I hate it when my finger touches (drags on) anything but the trigger when firing a gun and find it annoying.
I know if I did the fix my Kahrs would get more range time.

I don't recall my finger ever coming close to touching the trigger guard.....wonder what I'm doing wrong.

Good idea chieffels. I know this is an older thread but I have my first Kahr coming, a CW9 and I also don't like the hump in the trigger guard. Did your fix hold up or did it want to return to the hump? Any pictures? Thanks.
