Never thought I'd carry a cocked and locked 1911.
I was wrong...

Simply beautiful.
Maybe a picture of it in your holster? I'd bet it's a fancy lookin' one....
JMHO, that would look even better with a set of custom grip screws like these: http://engravingbyangela.com/Grip%20Screws%202.htm
Thought about getting a set of those for my MK9, but I don't even wanna know how much they'd be!

Welcome to the family. I knew this was going to happen, I could feel it in my cells.

I'm perfectly ok with that and I really think that's the way it was meant to be.
Only good thing about other types of guns is the folks that like them leave more 1911's for us that prefer the best.
I'm hope the upcoming flood of used HK's on the market doesn't drive the prices down too much.

It may not be a true 1911, but I like my Colt Governemnt 380 so much I hesitate to carry it for fear I will lose it if I'm forced to defend myself. Always cocked and locked.

Guns are replaceable.
You are not.
Carry what you shoot the best...

Holy SMooooooooks!
I so much enjoy my 1911, but I have trained so long with guns without a safety that I'm afraid I might forget to take it off if it was needed!!
Too many times I've forgotten to take the safety off when training.
Oh Well, I still I love it.

I thought the same thing.
But it's easy to swipe the safety as a draw.
It's getting to feel real natural to me now.
I'm feeling like I'll be just fine :D

Bought mine new 30 years ago - ran about 3 or 4 magazines through it, then put it in the safe where it's sat ever since except for the occasional wipedown. I have a bad habit of doing that, but one of my grandkids will probably appreciate that it's almost new.

Am thinking of a real 1911 like a Springfield Armory Milspec stainless - gotta replace the three that I gave away.

My training was just the opposite. It's natural for me to swipe off the safety whether the pistol has one or not. Of course, my early training was with 1911's and Browning HP's. My Kahr's are the only pistols I ever carry w/o a manual safety.

The key word here I think is Natural. I use the thumb safety as a thumb rest. Basically if I tense up I almost without thought push it down. It's in a perfect spot, easy to reach, even with the minimalist GI thumb safeties.
I too tend to sweep the safety weather it's there or not.
