It looks like a handful. I would look into using short shells in that mother.

Great for gang bangers

Some things like this I just have to ask myself "why".

Great home defense shotgun. Load it with 4's or even 6's. I've tried a pistol grip shotgun and didn't care much for it but it's not hard on the body. Your arm soaks up most of the recoil.

We have shotguns with buttstocks and a pistol grip combined and I much prefer those. You can still hold the shotgun good if you need to open a door or use your support hand for something else. Not too easy with this style of handle.

This is enough for me.

agreed.
Barth has some very cool sheet in his cache. I hope he just says no to this though.

I think it's too late. I see the magic word inbound in the title. And that's not a bad thing.
I'm not certain what the barrel length is but I'm thinking a butt stock is out of the question as it would be a SBR.
I'll have to look it up for stats.

A friend of mine has a Mossberg with the 18.5" barrel and pistol grip. The pistol grip is pretty painful to shoot, particularly buckshot or slugs. He bought a birdshead grip like that had on it, and that is actually pretty comfortable to shoot. It is also surprising how accurate shooting from down at hip level can be. Have fun with that!

I went to check it out, here's a link. http://www.mossberg.com/category/series/590-shockwave/

As I suspected it's a 14'' barrel. Might be right handy. I'd love to play with one to see if Alfonse has hit on something.
I agree I didn't like the pistol grip but maybe this is the ticket for a short handle and being shorter overall, maybe it would be manageable with one hand moving around. Not shooting but freeing up the weak hand for other stuff.

Well I wasn't a fan but the 14 inch barrel got my attention.
Yep Barth still has the coolest stuff

Bawanna

And it still holds 6 3'' rounds. That's pretty cool. It would hold a pile of them shorty rounds mentioned earlier.

Grew up watching The Rifleman.
Sawed off the stalk of my Ruger 10/22 and shot from the hip.
Later got a Mossberg 500.
Tossed the stock and kept the pistol grip.
Although painful to shoot, I could hip shoot a mannequin at close range with slugs effortlessly.
Reviews I've read the birds head grip is pleasant to shoot even with heavy loads.
Ordered just the grip for my 500.
But I'm thinking this would make a fine home defense weapon loaded with buckshot.
Thought about having the barrel sawed off - but then it's a SBS
The Shockwave is like a modern Ithaca 37 Witness gun without the legal issues.
14" heavy barrel and just over 26" overall.
Decided to go all in and just get the newer heavy duty 590.
Ordered the 590A1 military metal trigger group and safety as well...
It's a niche gun for sure.
But I'm thinking I'd rather repel borders with a 12 guage than a pistol.
This thing looks like the ultimate apartment cleaner :D

Don't forget about the Mossy 464 SPX!!! Who doesn't need a tactical .30-30?

I wonder if Mossberg will sell the two of them in a matched set?

LMFAO
This Shockwave seems to be just barely legal.
I've read that trying to carry it concealed may make it a AOW?!?!
Also adding a stock or a vertical foregrip is a no no.
Maybe SB Tactical will make a brace for it - LOL!
I'm thinking leave this bad boy bone stock and enjoy :D
It's more of a repel borders appartment gun to me.
I am considering a Side Saddle like Clint (looks like a Tacstar to me).
What do you guys think?

berettabone
04-20-2017, 05:57 PM
Cargo canvas type long pants, and your preferred side has a long pocket sown in. The pocket top seam has a bit of rigidity, so there isn't a problem of snagging when you pull it out. Nasty:)

Barth
04-22-2017, 10:05 AM
Adding a XS Big Dot to the nose.
Upgrading to 590A1 Milspec mettle trigger group and safety.
Plus Mesa Tactical side saddle.
Then professional trigger/slide action job.
Have Federal LE Slugs, 00 and 1 buck inbound.
After patterning I'll run what I shoot the best.
Wanting 00 buck to win the day...

Look into no. 4 buckshot also. That's what I ended up going with in my 870 home defense shotty. Now I've got a bunch of 00 that I only use for fun.

It's funny how Hickok bought one for personal use.
He had a loaner from Bud's Guns.
But this is no loaner gun :)
So he immediately bought one for himself and a second one for his son without asking...

Already have a old school Mossberg 500 and bought the Shockwave Raptor grip for it :D
Don't even get me started on buying two Shockwaves - LOL!
The one is definitely my new bedroom gun

I hate you all.....:banplease: now I have one on order. Local shop said he got 3 right away and all 3 sold immediately to out of state buyers. Thunder John said no estimated time of arrival even available. As long as I was shopping I did have to buy a Sig 938 though to help me through the wait. Cept.......NOW green guns matter and it needs to be fixed.:faint2:

Just dropped my Shockwave off at the local gunsmith.
Mossberg 590A1 mil spec aluminum trigger group, Vang Comp safety,
XS Big Dot front sight, GG&G light mount, Inforce 400 lumen Tactical Light,
and Mesa Tactical aluminum side saddle.
Trigger job and pump action job.
Plus some Talon grip tape to the front grip and birds head.
Barth is happy ;)

Bawanna

I'm picturing one of those full of those little short half size shot shells. Probably hold 10 or 12 I'm thinking.

I gotta wait for the price to come down some. I'll probably keep it pretty bare. Don't want to bulk it up.

I like everything your doing to yours but I'd probably skip the side saddle, and I'm in turmoil about the light.
Muzzle flash gives pretty good light albeit short term. Course I don't want to shoot something or somebody that don't sorely deserve to be shot ya know?

Serious competition.

Bawanna

The Remington looks good. But I've always preferred the Mossberg. I like the controls much better.
Cops of course prefer the Remington but the officers that supply their own almost without exception own Mossbergs.
On these things I think the little strap on the front, is a genuinely good idea. Awful easy for the hand to slip forward, a mistake that could only happen once.

Well i was able to see one of these personally at my lgs and i asked this question to everyone there...seems like a nice piece but do we really need it?
And here in NY state it is not listed as a pistol or shotgun...just s firearm so no need to be on your pistol permit....my first thoughts were it would be illegal because of barrel length and no stock

Buds Guns will not ship Shockwaves to NY.
I'm pretty sure CA or NY commie states don't allow free weapons.
Forget about it - LOL!

With me it was zero need and all want.
Already have a Mossy 500 18" pistol grip 12 gauge.
Even bought a shockwave birds head grip for it.

Just one of those things where I saw it and just had to have it - LOL!
A legal no hassle 14" shotgun was something I just couldn't pass up.
