Bought a CM9 from my buddy a while back and always wanted a MK9 elite. Found a like new for 725 out the door. Already have a PJ holster I can reuse.

Indeed! My MK9 feeds so smoothly, I sometimes feel compelled to do a press check just to verify a round fed after working the slide to chamber one.

I've seen photos of some good looking "MK" series Kahrs with the checkered wood grips, but I'm still drawn to the G10 grips that Lakeline LLC offers:

After closer examination I found a small scratch on the back strap. Any way to remove it?

You mentioned a holster in an earlier post, if you're going to carry it, I wouldn't worry about a scratch or two. It's going to get more, sooner or later. You can't carry a pistol all day, every day without it showing. You get holster wear if nothing else, I sometimes bang into a door frame or chair arm, etc.

I'm sure you could bead blast it, Greg is your best resource for that sort of thing. I just doubt it's worth effort, if you're going to carry it anyway.

Hey thanks for the mention:)

Estropelic,
I feel kenmoore is right on all accounts (well, maybe not about me being your best resource).
Carrying a firearm in a holster for any significant length of time will result in bumps, bruises, and holster wear.

If you want to touch that up, I think you will need to glass bead it to match the finish. Sometimes the bead is enough to hide a small mark like that. Otherwise you'll need to sand and/or peen the mark out first.

I bought my MK9 used and bead blasted it so I could see where I put my own carry/handling marks on it

Agreed. I have the stock, checkered wood, and the G10 grips, and my MK9 feels like an entirely different gun with the latter. Much better feel in the hand, imho. And, damn, they look nice, too. Especially if you go the extra mile and get some fancy grip screws to complete the package.

Dang it Bosco, you pushed me over the edge on grip screws for my MK9.

Those are gorgeous. I myself love nice screws but I've tried to steer clear. I like the ones where and allen wrench or a screwdriver either one will remove them.
Seems it never fails I want to remove a grip and I don't have an allen wrench.
Beauty and looking cool suffers a little bit for me but I can use my leatherman if I have to getting the grips off.

That's just beautiful.

Like you, I felt guilty holstering such a beautiful gun. My solution? An equally beautiful holster from Mitch Rosen.

I'm using a PJ holster I had for my CM9. I ordered a Don Hume JIT for OWB carry. I'm going to give it a try.

Cokeman - didn't know if you were referring to Estropelic's Don Hume JIT, or my Mitch Rosen holster.

As for the Mitch Rosen holster....

It's the 5JR-EXP from the Kahr Shop. I really wanted a High Noon Slide Guard, but didn't want to wait a few months. Kahr has the 5JR's ready to go....

When I got the 5JR, I was shocked how well it fit my MK9. The holster "clicks" when you seat the gun, very much like kydex. The leather is REALLY stiff and so hard, it almost feels like plastic.
Absolutely zero break in was required. My CM9 won't fit it, and I don't want to try and risk messing up the fit for the MK9.

The holster is stamped "MK9" on the back as well. The inside isn't lined, which is one of the reasons the Express (EXP) costs less than the regular 5JR. It is pretty smooth though, and hasn't given my MK any holster rash.
I figured the glossy finish wouldn't last long, but it's surprisingly tough. It scuffs, but the scuffs just disappear when you buff it with a cotton cloth (old t-shirt).

Mitch says the Express line isn't boned as carefully as the regular 5JR. Holy crap, just look at the picture. Somebody spent some serious time molding and hand boning this holster. If it was any tighter boned, you'd be able to read the dang serial number!

In summary, I'd give the 5JR-EXP holster by Mitch Rosen two thumbs WAYYYY UP. Worth every penny. I also bought the matching belt last time I visited Kahrville, and I'm gonna pick up the matching mag holder next...
