Well i just purchased a LNIB Kahr Mk40 elite 03 and with anything i buy i like to add some custom touches like we all do....i have a set of Crimson Trace grips for it along with black hex head screws and have picked up a like new Galco Ankle Glove holster as well...i am told the guide rod upgrade to stainless is a must as well....but one thing i can not find is a replacement mag release lock with the hex head....i have a 1911 officers acp i just told that i had that hex head in it...does anyone know if such a part is made or has anyone ever had one of the mag releases out and any pics of it?
They gun will hopefully be here later next week ....any help will so be appreciated
Thanks in advance
God Bless,John

I've never heard of such a thing myself. The mag release is very much like a 1911. Very similar.

Might possibly even interchange but I can't say that for sure.

Well that is what i thought when i first seen it
I wonder if i could make a lock from a 1911 work....it just needs to have the hex head

Worth a shot - it's cheap enough...
Good luck, and let us know if you find something.

1911 mag catch locks will work with the Kahr magazine catch.
Here is the Kahr lock (top) with a couple of 1911 locks. There are some slight differences between the three, but as far as I can tell, none have an effect on performance

Here's the the stock lock in my MK9:

I did happen to have a hex key 1911 lock. Here it is with the Kahr lock:

Installed:

FWIW, the Kahr lock works fine in a 1911 catch:

I've never heard of a hex key mag release lock. Guess I'll have to pick one up and 5 or 6 more if I like it.

You're welcome, but let me send some thanks your way. I liked the look myself, so I nickel plated that hex lock I have and put it in my MK9 :)

Thanks John and Greg!

Needed an add on for a Brownell's order, so I added a stainless EGW hex head lock as well.

Nice to know it's gonna work. For anyone else that wants one:

But it's not as interesting as ordering one from a supplier in Iowa, when EGW is like 30 minutes from my house. Oooops. :blushing:

FWIW - The EGW mag catch lock is a perfect fit in my MK9. Really quality piece of machining vs the stock MIM part.

It has a high polish finish, and you need a 1/16" hex wrench to install it.

Thanks again, John - wish EGW made more stuff for Kahrs. Might have to swing by and talk to them......:boink:

I have had some dealings with EGW and consider them a really fine supplier of parts for 1911 pattern guns. I think their parts are as good or better than any out there. I bought some spare mag catch locks on sale some years ago, but never realized they would fit a metal Kahr pistol. I wonder what other 1911 parts might fit, beyond grip screws. Does anyone know?
I too wish they made parts for Kahrs and other brands.

I do not think Kahr uses MIM parts in the Premium Series Kahrs. I think MIM parts only appear in C Series guns. If anyone knows for sure, please let us know.

Well i am sure they might not know some parts will interchange too...it sure would be great if they expanded their line for sure
