... I & four of my good friends drove out to Windy Point on Lake Travis for my bachelor "party". For entertainment & refreshment we had 4 cases of beer, one deck of cards, a can of beans, a Coleman lantern, and a single blanket.

Played cards & drank beer until the lantern ran out of fuel around 2AM. Sometime during the evening we shared the can of cold beans. I got the single blanket & wrapped up in it to try to sleep.

Woke up around 5AM with my shoulder stinging like crazy, as I had rolled down an incline into a patch of prickly pear cactus. Luckily only three or four needles needed to be removed, but it was something of an ordeal because the pre-med friend was more inebriated than I was.

Never got back to sleep, but watching the sun rise over the Lake was quite beautiful, even with a throbbing hangover.

IIRC, my bride-to-be was whooping it up in Dallas with her cousins & several girlfriends.

(PS - After we got hitched the next week, my lovely bride "cured" me of the college boy pub-crawling life)

I recall seeing that picture before. Very handsome couple. You just had to play football? And the missus had to be a cheer leader, I can feel it in my cells.

We need a now photo to confirm your still that good looking.

We got 34 years, (I think) time flies when your having fun I reckon.

Congratulations to you both and 50 more for you.

Nope - I was track & field and cross country - Mom wouldn't sign the football permission papers.

Wife was a twirler, drum majorette, and and sweetheart in high school.

I was track and cross country too. Football team already had a water boy. I weren't too big when I was in school.

Happy 50th. I think I've been married about 50 years as well. But that number involves four different wimmin....so you're doing one hell of a lot better than me.

Congrats on your Golden! I feel like a youngster as my wife and I hit our 26th just a couple of months ago, though sometimes it feels much more than 50!

A Love Story...

An elderly couple were having dinner one evening when the husband reached across the table, took his wife's hand in his and said, "Martha, soon we will be married 50 years, and there's something I have to know. In all of these 50 years, have you ever been unfaithful to me?"

Martha replied, "Well Henry, I have to be honest with you. Yes, I've been unfaithful to you three times during these 50 years, but always for a good reason.

Henry was obviously hurt by his wife's confession, but said, "I never suspected. Can you tell me what you mean by 'good reasons?'"

Martha said, "The first time was shortly after we were married, and we were about to lose our little house because we couldn't pay the mortgage. Do you remember that one evening I went to see the banker and the next day he notified you that the loan would be extended?"

Henry recalled the visit to the banker and said, "I can forgive you for that. You saved our home, but what about the second time?"

Martha asked, "And do you remember when you were so sick, but we didn't have the money to pay for the heart surgery you needed? Well, I went to see your doctor one night and, if you recall, he did the surgery at no charge.."

"I recall that," said Henry. "And you did it to save my life, soof course I can forgive you for that. Now tell me about the third time."

"All right!!! Do you remember when you ran for president of your golf club, and you needed 73 more votes?"

I finally wised up in my mid-40's. Current wife and I are now going on 31 years. Oddly, as am I, she's friends with with both my # 1 and #3.
