In case you haven't heard, Photobucket is removing posted photos that were on third party websites (like this one).

Easy alternative suggestions would be appreciated.

I can't recall the last time in my entire life that I was this pissed off!

Photobucket has been a pain in the posterior for a long time, ever since they upgraded. pop up ads, slow, add pictures then you have to log off and log back on to see them.

And now the 1000's of pictures I've posted here and on the bladeforum, all gone.

If photobucket was a person I'd be hunting for him, that's a fact.

Greg has told me about others several times during my frustrations but I didn't listen.

I have to figure a way to get all my pictures off photobucket and into my computer or something, then adios those a holes.

Wish I knew a hacker that could really mess them up........................fuming!!!!

Bawanna, I hear ya but I must respectfully, and I mean respectfully, ask.....are you paying for their service?

Bawanna

No I am not and will not since they bombarded it with ads.
The issue is it was advertised as a free service. Now suddenly surprise now you get racked over the coals if you want to keep the multitude of photo's you've posted still viable.

I'm sure there's a law involved here but you know first hand I ain't gonna deal with no lawyer.

Not quite all. For some reason the avitars and albums posted here are still working. I wonder what the difference is?

I too have thousands of photos imbedded in posts all over the internet. I'm bummed.

PB wants $399 per year to post images. It's cheaper if you just want to post a link to a photo. I would be willing to pay for their service but for me their prices are out of line.

Hopefully PBs ad revenue will decline as they will eventually lose tens of thousands of users.

I signed up at IMGUR which for now is free.

Didn't you have to have the photos already saved in your computer before you could past them to Photobucket?

I just went through this the other day. You can download your photos from Photobucket to your computer. They download them in a zip file, which you can then unpack and do what you like with the photos. I did that, then canceled my account with them.

I then opened an account with IMGUR.com, put up some of the photos, and linked them to current threads here (http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?30662-New-Home-Defense-Pistol) and elsewhere. At 74 I'm not all that swift on figuring out tech stuff on the computer, but if I could do it so can anyone else here.

As to Photobucket, I hope their management burns in a very hot place for what they've done to tens of thousands of people who opened accounts there in good faith.

Most of my photos went straight from the camera card to photobucket. I may copy them to my computer or a disc or something if I can figure out a way to do it without being full time till retirement which isn't that far off.

In the future I will save in advance to computer or disc or something, that's a sure thing.

Unless they change the error of their ways the word "photobucket" will be in the same category as pictures of Hillary or Ovomit.
Instant removal and deletion.

Great racket, just like insurance. Offer it for free for years, then require ransom or all your photo efforts and help photos are gone.

Often thought what a guy needs to do is invent something, then make it the law you have to buy it, just like insurance, or seat belts, the list goes on. Kind of like a war profiteer.

This is actually probably good for me, I haven't been this worked up since the missing link got elected.

I just tried it and found when you first upload the image you'll get some links to copy.
Here's using the "Hotlink for forums" link:
https://s14.postimg.org/xkjflcpq9/sandpoint.jpg (https://postimg.org/image/zcceg9931/)
..and one using the "Direct link" and adding BB code paste direct link here when posting here:
https://s11.postimg.org/lbv8dsyxv/45comp2.jpg
If you go past that first page, just click the share button at the top and the links will appear.
I like what I see there so far, so I'm sending some "Thank you very much" your way and to JohnR :)

Greg

Once paid, no more problems,

I've never used PB, nor any other photo storage service. Never felt a need to. Mostly, off computer C: drive storage resides on a spare, USB plug-in SSD.

The bombarding of popup advertisements made the service painful to use.
But it was free.
So I took that as the price of admission.
Much like my free Yahoo Email account.
But there's no way in hell I'm paying for a photo hosting service.
Just deleted all my photos and submitted an account deletion request.

I don't understand what's going on. I posted the above pics directl from my PB account which shows me loged in.

But ! Please excuse the link to another forum, I belong to m1911. org forum and now that one looks like an rss feed, I think. And all my pics there are blocked out and it says I need to update. So when I go to PB it wants me to chose a payment plan. But not when I posted the above pics here

Oh! Now I see some of the pics I posted here are gone but not all.

Hey, thanks for the heads up on the Firefox add on. I've been using Opera a lot of late, but I just went and got a Firefox add on called "photobucket embed fix 0.0.2" and I can now see the photo of your PM9 and those of your horses. I checked some tutorials that were busted before and can now see those photos as well.
Much obliged sir!:yo:

I feel that pain. I have a ton of pictures to transfer as well. I just downloaded the camera memory card which I haven't done in a very long time. That's about the same program. Very time consuming.

There really should be some sort of class action suit, one of them bottom feeding ambulance chasers should grab onto this.
They let you do something for years and then suddenly wipe out the whole internet with their obnoxious gauge and hold your photos for ransom.

Who's to say another outfit won't do the same darn thing. Starting to think a few thumb drives carried all the time would be the ticket. We're not supposed to use personal thumb drives here at work but I do quite a few things here at work I'm not supposed to.

A nap sounds pretty good right about now.

Also wish there was a way in Postimage to create sub folders

While transferring pics I found this

I watched this happen a little while ago at a match. No one was hurt except for some embarrassment

I'm crying just looking at that picture.

You can make sub folders in postimage. I did so myself, if I can do it, I know you can.

I have like knives, guns, grand kids, vacation, misc. You just have to make sure you got the right folder open when you upload your pictures.

I uploaded to the wrong one once and can't figure out how to get them out or moved. I guess a few knife pictures in the gun folder won't give me a ticket to hell.

I mean it's not like I coveted thy neighbors gun or wife or anything like that.......

You can't trust anyone else to take care of your business. Down load pics to your computer and burn a disc every once in a while. Keep a log of your disc and you are always good to go. Free never works out in the end with the web.

There was a Bushnell TR25 mounted on top. It flew so far into the brush, we never did find it. This was at a Speed Steel match. Shooter, R.O. & score keeper weren't injured at all.

jg, any idea why the gun blew up?

The convict and I were one shooting booth away when this guy blew up his deceased father's 1912 45 long colt revolver (I'm not sure exactly what kind).
He was shooting reloads his Dad made 25 years ago…..maybe his Dad was haunting him?!?!?!?!?
Fortunately no one was hurt.

It was at a speed steel match, so he should have been shooting the lightest load. Most shooters compete with .22's or 9mm's. Or some like me shoot 45's
I never met this guy before, but he was in my squad, and I assume he was a new shooter to show up with a .44. I don't remember if his rounds were .44 sp. or mag. He said he reloaded light loads. It was a loud boom
