I've been wanting one of these for quite some time, but they've been scarce:
http://cz-usa.com/product/cz-75-sp-01-phantom-2017-update/
Then a couple of days ago, one appears on the shelf at a local shop. I barely glanced at the price tag before the plastic was out....faster than Trinity (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9C-fRdCmzDk) I think ;)

I'm pretty pleased with it so far....even if a little trigger work took several hours (and that was with an excellent tutorial (http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=33120.0))

Greg
Sweet! Congratulations on that find - seeing a CZ of any kind is a rarity around here.
Just hope you didn't slap the salesman....

No slapping, but I sure had some good times at the drive-ins watching those Trinity movies in the early 70's. As to that shop, I'm on pretty good terms with most of the folks there. Several of us get to together quite often for desert trips and I served with some of them in the Marine Corps.

:2eek: Good grief, load it on Sunday and shoot it all week long. That's a lot of payload.
Like the looks of it and it doesn't so anything to appease my desire to have a CZ to call my very own.
One more model to confuse my limited memory banks too.

Very nice. I knew what the post was about when I saw Phantom. That takes standard CZ 75 mags doesn't it? I like the dec0cker better on that than the P-07 and P-09.
You still got your P-09? I shot mine yesterday and was wondering how yours was working out. I'm up to about 1200 rounds on my P-09 and not one trouble yet. The P-07 is at about 1400 rounds. Had to do a tad of extractor work on it as it was sticking and causing fail to return to battery unless it was well oiled. Rough machining in the extractor slot on the slide that caused slight issues at around 800 rounds. Now it is slick as ice.

I just saw that Bud's has a few surplus 75 and 75B pistols that need some TLC...prices are not bad, would be a cool project to clean one of them up.

Thanks! :) It does take standard 75 mags.
I do still have the P-09. I've warmed up to it which I find odd because the P07 I had just didn't sing to me. I bought the P09 because I was tired of waiting on a Phantom and I briefly thought about trading it on this Phantom, but it was only a fleeting thought. It has been a solid performer for me through about 500 rounds. I've slicked it's trigger up and want to either buy a trigger from Cajun Gun Works that has an over travel stop or just drill and tap my trigger for one. Keeping it may prove to be a wise decision, as my wife shot the Phantom (darn, I like that name) really well and has taken an interest in it which could lead to it residing in her safe. If that happens, I'm going to pimp out the P09 with a compensator from Springer Precision and see how I like that...or maybe buy another Phantom as I got an email from Davidson's this evening that says they have them in stock (checked Gun Genie and it had 99 listed on hand).
Nice work diagnosing and fixing that balky extractor.

Greg

"I just saw that Bud's has a few surplus 75 and 75B pistols that need some TLC...prices are not bad, would be a cool project to clean one of them up."
I looked at those and that would be fun but I also don't have your talent.
Besides now I kind of feel like holding out for a Phantom. Looking at Gun Genie they aren't that bad $. Way more than I got as usual but that only gives me time to ponder and shop.
The steel frame of the P09 appeals but the Phantom at about have the weight or a tad more kind of tilts the scales to the Tupperware.
Can't believe I said that.......steel, wood and 45's is my motto and I'm craving a plastic 9? Must have passed a bad waterhole.

The Phantoms are very nice. I am very pleased with my CZ pistols...a P-07 and 75 Compact. Straight out of the case perfection for both of them. Have the Kadet .22 conversion kit for the P-07, nice to have the extra range time shooting the same pistol using the cheap .22 ammo.

We talked about that awhile back. I never seen one in person yet but as you mentioned they are quite large.
Very appealing though. I got daily carry covered so it would be a range toy, possible night stand gun anyhow.
And I'm not opposed to carrying a large gun if it's true love.
I shall ponder whilst my piggy bank expands. I need to check that thing, I think there might be a hole in the bottom.
Edit to add, watched the video, I'm done pondering. I WANT one. That's the CZ for me.

WOW… Greg. I've been off line for a few days. We've been visiting family in various parts of Michigan………..But HOLY Moses when I saw that amazing Phantom I began to suffer from gun envy!!!!!!
Lord willing the prisoner and I will visit your area during next winter and "maybe" I can beg your wife to let me shoot it!!!!
Now back to the family visit, which is great! No conflicts, we are blessed with good folks on both sides.

I suspect if the good wife (never asked her to be a cyber bride yet?) owns it, there will be two for you to play with. For the record I think she deserves it myself.
Just subtle hints like there's 98 available on Gun Genie, them's clues that Greg won't be without. And again for the record I think he should have his own too ya know. Each can dial em in just the way they want.
You can do like that movie with one in each hand blast away at evil and unrightousness. Take video, should be good.
And lastly for the record for the last time, I should probably have one too just cause they got two in case you and the prisoner (he's innocent, I can feel it in my cells) ever get to the NW you'd have one to shoot here too. Maybe a stainless one so it don't rust during the monsoons, although we're setting a record for number of days without rain, and plumb hot too.
Course not hot like Greg's neck of the woods, that's insane hot. We're nuts but not insane.........

I think you'll like the Phantom MB. It's one of the more pleasing firearms purchases I've made in some time.
We sure would look forward to seeing you and the convict again (please give him are regards) :)

Bawanna, you and Greg are in different categories…..after all he's not my Cyber Hubby.

One of my fortes is of course profiling.....don't tell anybody though it's not PC.
I can tell at a moments glance you got a good wife there GB. You've said it many times before so no new news but I can see it.
Treat her like a queen and she'll treat you like a king although she probably does anyhow and would anyway.

Just a quick update on the Phantom: I'm loving it :)
From yesterday's trip to the indoor range, here's 50 rounds of 115 grain, Fiocchi ball at 10 yds. off hand:

I'm feeling it's much more capable than I am, but I'm pretty happy with the way it shoots for me (especially with my bifocals :nerd:).

NOW……the convict just told me that off hand means that you shot the gun unsupported!?!?!?! I always thought that meant shooting with the "weak" hand…..!
Hmmmm………I always like to learn MORE!

How's that SP-01 of yours running? Best trigger I've ever felt on a CZ pistol.

My SP-01 is doing great! About a month after you shot it I replace the factory recoil spring (I had 5,000 rounds on it without a hick-up) with one from DPM.
It was a little pricey (around $80) but the gun runs better than ever. The SP-01 never had much recoil but the new spring has cut it by about 30%.
Supposedly the spring makes a bigger difference in longer barreled guns, and so far that seems to be true, because I also put a DPM spring in my Glock 19 and it
probably reduced the recoil by about 10%. The dealer said I probably will never have to replace the spring because they're good for a million rounds!!!! Ha, Ha!
I'll find the DPM web site and post it.
