Looks like one of Maggie's relatives:):)...............................she really doesn't need any turkey. When we rescued her, she was 48 lbs. and they said that she wouldn't get any larger. She now tips the scales at 60 lbs. and she's right where she should be with a bit of ribs showing, and still growing.

Sweet dawg Maggie, but sorry, she can't have this - fresh out of the oven...

That looks exactly like one of my mom's pecan pies. Exactly the way she make them.

Nothing finer in the whole wide world when it comes to pies. Hopefully she'll have a couple tomorrow when we get together.
Remodeled her house many years ago and sub contractors, electricians and plumbers threatened to boycott if they didn't get a pie each weekend. We were only working weekends.

That sure looks fine.

Actually, we had a great Thanksgiving dinner at the chow hall on Fort Huachuca, which is in Sierra Vista AZ.
It's one of the rare times they allow retired military and their spouses in. It was by FAR the best chow hall meal either of us ever had. The meats alone included;
turkey, ham, prime rib and king crab legs….and it got better from there!!

Of course if we were back in Michigan we would have had an excellent meal with family and friends.

Took a shot of my mom's Pecan Pie yesterday. Sure looks a lot like Armybrats.

Course it didn't last long.

On the bright side she made several and I got a brand new one in the fridge. Life is good.

Hope everybody had a good Thanksgiving.

I laughed at my sister-in-law She invited us over for "Imported Italian Kale and Fried cheese"
I thanked her but reminded her I'm carnivore and a Turkey and Pig both gave their lives for me to sleep the afternoon away in my lazyboy.

pissed her off
(good)

Thats the one pie we didn't get to eat and I love it. The wife makes a killer bourbon pecan pie. Maybe we'll get one for Christmas.

Put in my 6 hours at Sam's Club this morning. We had a table full of pumpkin, apple, and pecan pies. While I love homemade the taste of Sam's pies are not bad and the price is about the same as all the ingredients for homemade. That's if your oven schedule doesn't allow for pie baking. Although we had huge dinners Sunday and Thursday we were a bit short on pies. Sacrilege, I know, but I may have to pick up one after work tomorrow. A pumpkin pie is $6. Pecan is $9.

You have to have been at Fort Huachuca for a reason. Not exactly the sort of place one stumbles across, nor would typically go for Thanksgiving dinner.

We really like the area, there's lots to see, it's cooler than Tucson, which makes hiking more fun. The base has a great museum and you can't beat the price for camping. It's $120 a week with full hook up, cable TV, and weak wi-fi.
We will be here a couple of weeks, then it's on to Tucson, AZ (Davis Monthan AFB.

My only experience with Fort Huachuca has been professional. Tucson was kinda a second home to me for a few years back in the early '80s. Lived elsewhere but had a serious girlfriend stationed at DM at the time and used to park my Cessna on the base when I flew in to visit. Loved the area!

Maggie did end up getting a bit of turkey, but of course it wasn't enough. I think she had just farted........................
