I bought my first Kahr in 1996. A K9, the only entry on my inventory is that I bought it "on my badge". I carried it for awhile as backup, sent it back to the factory for night sites and then somewhere along the line I found something else for BU. Dug it out of the safe a few days ago and took it down to my range, still accurate as a laser. I forgot how long that trigger pull is, practice will reacquaint me but, I have recently been reading about the so called NY trigger etc vs the new Elite trigger. I am assuming mine has the long NY pull. My question is this, is there a way I can have the Elite trigger system fitted to my pistol? If so, does it require a trip back to the factory or can I acquire parts for my Smithy to fit for me? Any worthwhile comments will be appreciated. I am searching for a nice sized, single stack 9mm for EDC carry and hope to resurrect my K9 for such duty. Thanks for reading.

This link to Kahr Arms to the service area of their web site for the trigger upgrade. It's $125 plus shipping of your firearm to Kahr. My K9 has the upgrade, done many years ago, and it makes a big difference IMHO.

There's also this: http://www.kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?30925-Upgraded-My-K9-s-quot-NYPD-quot-Trigger-to-quot-Elite-quot-Status

One caveat about the above: some older Kahrs have a trigger bar and spring that is different from what is used currently. I believe, that in order to use the current trigger bar, the frame in these older guns will require some modification. This would involve removing some material from the front and, possibly, the rear of the cutout in the frame where the dis-connector portion of the trigger bar rides (see yellow areas in photo). It might be possible to mod the new trigger bar instead, but I think that might weaken the bar too much.
Older style trigger bar and spring:

The last photo shows the old style trigger bar above a current one.

Excellent photos, Super M.

Is there a reliability difference between the old vs. new?

Excellent photos, Super M.

Is there a reliability difference between the old vs. new?
Thanks:)
I only had/have my older K9 and aside from a broken trigger bar spring (which happened after I sold it...I later reacquired it), it has been reliable.
From what I see on this and various other forums, the newer versions are just as reliable.
