It is going to sound like a broken record here. Today was the first time to the range with the CW9. Coming from a sig p228, this is going to take some getting used to.
I prepped the gun as the tech thread. I brought 420 rounds of various ammo just in case it did not like to feed one brand.
My first mistake was trying to do too much in one range trip. I was given a old jennings j22 from my Dad that was my Mother's. She had bought this and a ruger mark II 22lr years ago to spend some time with me. We went to the range a few times and she was a pretty good shot. After she died I was given her shotgun, 22lr bolt action and the ruger but Dad wanted to keep the jennings as a just in case deal. My last visit he told me to take the jennings back with me. Anyway the j22 is more of a sentimental keepsake than anything else.
I started with the jennings. Suprisingly it was really accurate for a cheap little pocket gun. It does jam, misfeed, stove pipe and gererally FTE in any and all ways. Four six round mags with about six FTE / FTF was enough for that gun.
Next up was a sig 522. I was trying to sight in the scope (these do not come with any sights from the factory). It was hitting low and right. I could not adjust get the scope adjusted to hit center. I could get it to hit my moving my aimpoint to target 11 oclock. After fiddleing with the scope for about an hour I gave up on that and will try a holographic next time.
Now I tried the CW9. BIG MISTAKE SHOOTING THAT LAST. I realize I was tired but I did manage to shoot about 210 rounds without any failure. FMJ CCI blazer brass, federal, WWB and winchester pdx1. I was having trouble with the sights, seeing deep with the crimson trace, the long trigger, anticipating the break, you name the mistake I made it. I tried keeping the pad of my finger on the trigger and concentrating on the laser. I got a little better but was still all over the place, most stray shots were low and centered. After the fourteen rounds I even stopped and tried dry firing with the laser on to see how pad I was pulling. Dryfiring I was nice and steady and kept on target but live fire I was all over. I even tightened up so much I popped the magazine once.
This double action trigger is going to make me insane or a much better shooter. I did try my sig 228 at the very end (factory sights no laser) and show well with that. I guess I will be carrying the sig until I get used to this little kahr.
