Their will be a sale of 1911's for sale to the public through the CMP. People smarter than me have suggested they will be priced somewhere in the $1000 price range. Remembering back a lot of years, the .45 I was issued rattled so much I was afraid it would give away my position. If these new offerings are of that quality, my offer is reduced to $100 and it would be used as a wall hanger.

I imagine they will grade them like they do the M1 Garands and Carbines. I'm sure the quality covers a very broad spectrum from paperweights to virtually unissued.

I've longed for the day they would offer them and wondered where they all were. Kind of anti climatic given the high offer price, but I'm still glad at least history will be available.
