As best as I can tell this entire site has had less than 25 new posts in the last 48 hours. What happened? This place used to be hoppin...

We try to keep hopping but I think we stop to rest more often or something.

Joining in 2015 and only having 9 post, I'd say your not doing your part to keep the hop in hopping.

Usually a little more active in winter and less so when people are outside doing stuff but life goes on.

People are probably too busy with the pre-holiday rush to go out shootin' or come here posting. Just to keep this gun-related, knowing how many crazies are out there this time of the year I've been wearing my P380 every moment that I've been dressed, if not something bigger. I hate going to the malls any time of year but this is especially the time to be extra vigilant.

Happy Holidays to all. Just my opinion: Since the closure of the political forum and little discussion of current events, the forum lost its fire for me. Nice people here though. Now its like a lot of other gun forums on the net. Too bad, I learned a lot from members that would articulate their position on many different matters presented here that other boards would not allow.

Haven't been here in awhile. No real reason. I would like to wish everybody a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year!

Sadly most of those people who would articulate their positions the best are dead.
I still like to think we run a much looser but semi controlled forum than most. Admittedly now days you can't hardly mention the word gun without it relating to politics.
Truthfully I miss the discussions and positions, didn't enjoy as much when they became heated and personal and resorted to fisticuffs.
I used to enjoy a good fisticuff from time to time but now days nobody will play with me anymore........
Also many of the troublesome ones who were generally new, didn't take their time to test the waters and just created havoc are all gone. That's a good thing.

Just to maybe put the fire back in it for you, I think if the media would get a life, speak the truth and the congress and senate would quit being guided by the media and let our president do his thing, America would be great again.

That and shut down the cottage industry of accusing every male of groping and shutting down their careers. Won't be much left of Hollywood or the government when they get done. Course maybe that's a good thing except all the gropeeee's won't have jobs since there won't be any gropers to hire them but maybe that's a good thing too.

Ok, I'm through, I'm issuing myself 15 demerits for line crossing.........................

Groping..... hmmmmm.... now mom and dad always told me groping was not a nice thing to do so I never was a groper, but there are sure lots of comments that can be made about it. I remember when men would grope, the woman would slap them, and the men took it as a lesson.

Most confusing thing now about the modern world is men are supposed to act like sensitive women and women want to be men, same sexes want to marry each other, nobody knows which bathroom they want to use, or what gender they really are (this week.)

Seems like the groping days were much simpler times. Apologies in advance for crossing the line as I'm sure I've offended someone.

How do we fix it, what changed.

Not sure anything needs fixing, or even can be fixed.

I'd blame it on social media taking over. Technology is to blame.

Seems like everyone has a smart phone these days, and it's just easier to communicate with other like minded individuals using that platform. More "streamlined".

It's just faster than using forums like this - but not "better". It's a more "shallow" form of communication that takes less time.

These days, it seems like we all have less and less time to do things. Tough to make more time....

They were simpler times...............a guy grabbed the wife's rear one time, and I simply stated, " If I see you do it again, I will promise you that I will break all 10 of your fingers, so you can't do it again." It WAS simpler back then...........................

Bawanna

And I've never grabbed her rear again since neither. Learned my lesson by golly. I'm a full time derelict and I need these fingers.

True story, I was walking down the sidewalk in Manila with my wife in 1987 and a bank security guard with a shotgun made a comment to my wife that I didn't hear and she didn't like. She proceeded to beat the guy with her purse in the head. The guy was humiliated, his partner was in tears laughing, and I as a newly married husband took note to "dont say anything to make her mad." The lesson worked well for me, she has been patient with me, and theres not been many problems to speak of.

Simpler times.....

Got more simple stories like that she taught me.

While I've never thought the grouping was ever "cool" even back in the day, I do wonder about the chance for any form of "due process" when all the accusers are talking about stuff (in many instances) from 30+ years ago. No way to prove it did or didn't happen that way and it ignores the realities of "those times" completely. I don't think it was ever right or respectful, but it was the way things were all over. To whack that mole today for what happened way back then is flat out wrong, unless you can show me that the man has not "grow into a better man" since then.

I hate revisionist history... A LOT!

But todays press love, LOVES, LOVES!!! Any subject that is blowing up on social media today. That's where the ratings are...

OK !
I'll contribute.
I'm still here

So ! Since gun topics do at times become political and there's nothing new from Kahr. And there's nothing new I can contribute that's worth anthing.
I'm moving on.
So what's everyone's favorite western movie ?
Up until a few days ago I thought Monte Walsh was my favorite, but then I watched another one that became my favorite.
But ! I can't remember what it was.
Duh !

AS a born and raised former New Yorker, I heartily agree. I lived through just about everything being taxed. Maybe with what the predominately democratic New Yorkers will have to deal with, they will see the light and start to vote out the taxing lovers

I think my favorite was Lonesome Dove but Monte Walsh was a good one and I was just thinking about watching it again for about the 12th time last couple days.

I like Crossfire Trail and of course Quigley, course it might not be considered a true Western.

Jeremiah Johnson is one of my favorite western films. Redford put in a great acting performance - pretending that he actually liked & used guns as tools.
Agreed on Lonesome Dove.
The Shootist - that should've been an Oscar-winner for the Duke (I didn't care that much about true Grit).
The Searchers - another great one, but sorry - West Texas doesn't look like Monument Valley.
How the West Was Won.
Never have seen Monte Walsh.
Tombstone wasn't bad for a 1990s film.
The Sacketts.
Quigley
North To Alaska (for a humorous film).

Hey Bawanna,
Other then Lonesome those were also my choices. I'd have to add Broken Trail with Robert Duvall.
A little trivia for those that care. The horse he rode in Quigley and in The Last stand at Saber River was named Spike. It was given to Selleck by the owner / trainer.

Yeah I enjoy horse trivia

Note to self, don't mess with yqtszhj's wife, even armed with a scattergun.....................................:be hindsofa:

Anutter true story showing wife hasn't changed. This one is from just a couple of years ago. She has this friend same nationality as her and liked to visit as a courtesy to the friend. Lady's husband could be a jerk. I went over there once and told her she shouldn't go there because the husband was gonna make her mad. She told me "I can handle him" so i told her ok, I ain't going. She said yes I was so.... I figure they serve wine so that would be the once or twice per year I'd have some drinks since those visits usually lasted HOURS! Figured I'd make the best of it.

Well it took a couple of years to happen but on the Last visit the guy made a mildly lewd remark in front of people that sent her head spinning. I watched as my wife started verbally assualting him. I was afraid she was gonna jump on him and I would have to pull her off because she had already started getting in his face and was in the kitchen with heavy stuff and knives. Well the Guy finally apologized, she didn't accept and we left. Good so far and there was no blood spilled. On the way home she asked if she crossed the line and I said "nah, Im proud of you and you did ok."

Finally I dont have to go to that house anymore.

Did I mention she's 4'11"and 105 pounds? TNT in a small package. She dont yell at me though which is nice.

My favorite western is Lonesome Dove!!! Hey, I even road a Mule named "Dirty Bird" (soiled dove….lonesome dove!)

Sexual Harassment…….whenever it happened "I" ended it!!!!! DONE, DONE, DONE!
It's a lot easier to take care of things yourself…..then they don't happen again with the same jerk!

Actually not many even stay in touch any longer, maybe they felt they were no competition or maybe I'm just losing it.

I mean a guy can't stay a handsome stud forever can he? And still be modest?

If y'all would like to see how political forums have evolved (or devolved, really) since the election, check out these two very active ones.... if you dare.

This one is a part of the Texas sports board where I have been hanging out for 10 years -have 44,000 posts there, with about half of them in the political forum. Bear in mind - almost all these guys are college graduates, with lots of lawyers, teachers, professors, computer scientists, oil & gas engineers & executives, and plenty of well educated a-holes. Ad hominem attacks are the order of the day, and it gets downright nasty all the time :
(luckily there is a profanity filter for the unregistered & newbies, as F-bombs are abounding. That has resulted in very few female members)

http://www.shaggytexas.com/board/forumdisplay.php/17-Cloak-Room

This one is from a national/international board and is infested with gobs of snowflakes, socialists, communists, conspiracy lunatics, crazies, rednecks, America haters, foreign elitists, Yankees, feminazis, pinheads, goobers, and the occasional smart person:

http://www.city-data.com/forum/politics-other-controversies/

They both get plenty of traffic, but I've curtailed my participation considerably the past year out of fear of overdosing on my nitro pills due to all the insanity. If the political forum here is reopened and it attracts more new members, then it is guaranteed to drive the Colonel nuts trying to moderate the inevitable battles.
That's why I originally advised against having a politics section here. Plus the fact this is primarily a gun board.... or so I thought.... and a refuge from all the cyber nuttiness.

Just my .02 cents - you may keep the change. ;)
