How about pics of my favorite and my most hated
The favorite is a custom .22 Colt Diamondback that I did tears ago.
The hated one is a hardly ever used a .38 S&W mod. 342 Titanium. Even with the modified wrap around grips I modified for it, it hurts to shoot. I haven't had anyone want to shoot more than 12 rounds through it, even reloads.
Other than that's just way too hard!...If only one, all purpose, it would hafta be my 3" bull bbl Smith Model 13

My favorite was also my first, well actually it replaced my first after it was stolen.
A Colt Cobra 38 Spl. Nickel plated. Light, not unpleasant to shoot and looks good. Haven't carried it in years although I did carry it for many many years starting out.
I also have a S&W 629 Classic Hunter 6" That I like. Feels good, love the look. Didn't ever shoot it much, always carried a Ruger Single Action hunting, but I still love it.

I have a 342 PD Titanium Airweight that I have carried every day for 14 years. Mine sports the larger Crimson Trace grips. I love it - I shoot at least 25 rounds through it every week - Berry's 158gr FP with 4gr Win 231. I carry it with Federal 130gr HST +P - now they hurt to shoot, but they are very accurate in mine. I wish that I could find another one that I could afford - they have doubled in value since I bought mine...

LOL !
Wife calls it the gun from hell. Both she and I have arthritic webs of our hands. I may have exaggerated about the limit of rounds willing to be fired by others then the wife, nieces, myself. but they all say OOCH ! My reloads are 158 cast swc with either 700X or WST, 231.
I try not to shoot many reloads through it because of the notoriety of .38 cases splitting and possibly eroding the titanium cylinders.
I think there was something written in the owner's manual about this

I had that same pistol pack in an earlier life. One of the several I kick myself for ever parting with. Think I swapped it for a heavy barrel 03-A3 match rifle but can't be certain. Was long ago.
Sure was nice to be able to switch barrels.

I have similar grips on my 1963 nickel S&W Mod 36. My grips are way too slick and without "damp" hands, they can be hard to get a proper hold. I'm still wanting the old Tyler "T" grip to put on it.

FYI,
I made comfortable, easy to hold grips from these for my Titanium 342 and my mod 60
It's real easy to figure out after you look at the inside of the original Uncle Mikes / Butler Creek grips.
It gives a wraparound for the back strap and the front comes down low enough to protect you middle finger from getting banged up from recoil against the back of the trigger guard.
And for me it creates a natural point without having to cock my wrist

My wife calls mine "American Express" because I never leave home without it... Mine was a Valentine's present that she bought for me. It is the only pistol that I would never part with. I gave her a Browning Buckmark that same year for her birthday and she will never part with that one either...

That's gorgeous! I bought my wife an SP101 in 22 intending to get her a 38 SP101 but ended up with a 638. It has a shrouded hammer but I can still cock the thing, the scary thing is decocking it, not much purchase on the hammer so you want to have your wits about ya when ya do it.
She always double actions it so no worries. Me being born a 100 years too late, if it has a hammer I cock it.

My 586 No Dash, 4" with Target grips. Imho 4" L frames are the Cats A$$ for shooting .357 rounds.
My 2nd favorite is my recently acquired 10-7 nickel plated snub nose posted in another thread.
I took the snubbie to an indoor range over the holidays, and was pleasantly surprised at how well I shot it. Grouping were extremely tight for a 2" barreled revolver with a trough for a rear sight.

Eagle Secret Service if I remember correctly?
They are more for looks and concealment than comfort.
If you're looking for comfort and don't care so much about concealment?
I recommend Pachmayr's Compac grips.
That's what's on my 44 Mag.

My 66-2 snub wears the Pach Compac grips, but without the pinky cutout. I do like them, they're small but absorb recoil really well. I wish they weren't as snaggy, but you actually can't have everything. I put the Hogue bantams on my 640 and they work adequately well but I wouldn't want to shoot a whole box of ammo with them.

I see Barth has answered this already, but I'd like to add my two cents worth. I've tried many different style grips on my S&W Model 60-9 (you can see some of them here (http://gbrannon.bizhat.com/xs.html)). I actually had Eagle Secret Service grips on it when I found the pattern I settled on.
http://i46.tinypic.com/14wyafp.jpg
The grips I like are the boot grip from Altamont (https://www.altamontco.com/pistol-grips/smith-and-wesson/j-round/). I "discovered" them when I acquired a Taurus 85 that had them on it. Those for the Model 60 are a little different from the set on the Taurus, but close enough for me:
http://i46.tinypic.com/snf2h2.jpg
They are comfortable enough for the loads I use in the Model 60, but the 158 grain .357 Magnum loads I have tried are unpleasant to shoot. I just avoid going that stout.

I've tried Pachmayr grips over the years and think they are a good option for certain people and uses. I just never warm up to them myself. The set I came closest to keeping on a revolver were these on my Speed Six:

GTO in the background? I know it's a Pontiac................
It's a 69 Firebird. I wish it were a GTO. I had a 66 GTO a long time back. Tri power, 4 speed w/ a 450 c.i. motor. This one belongs to my son. The trunk is really short and the hood is a football field long. When you step on it the nose goes so high in the air that you can't see where you're going
Things have sure changed . I thought my carbed GTO and my sons souped up Firebird were fast. But not by by today's standards'
I think my 2000 six speed Camaro and the wife's 2010 six speed Dodge Challenge could do a number on those oldies.

Sorry for the confusion
As much as I love my Camaro there's times I think it's gotta go. Since my left knee replacement I can't bend it back enough get out without pushing the driver's seat almost all the way back.
BUT! When driving it and listening to the sound and feeling power of the motor, it's hard to part with it. It's fun to lightly goose it at a green light and have the rear ties break loose a little. Yes I do wear out tires and I do watch Street Outlaws.

This thread brought back fond memories of my 1st and 2nd childhoods. I'm into # 3 myself.
Fastest car I ever owned was a 68 volkswagon. It was a real sleeper before I painted it. Faded red looked like any other old VW on the road but started with a 1600 engine and pumped it up to about 1850. Had a 4 barrel Holley on it for awhile but it ran it's absolute best with 2 2 barrel Webers.
Took it to a all VW thing down and SIR drag strip and people were looking at me like why did you drag that piece of junk down here, that lasted till the green light and then jaws hit the deck. Ran in the 12's and I drove it down and back.
Totally blew off a new Corvette and young guy was showing off for his girlfriend. One of my finer days and a story for another time.

Isn't nice to have fond old memories ?
After reading this, wife and I were remembering when we were going out together the times when she helped me rebuild carbs, replace blown spider gears in rear ends, replace syncomesh tranny gears. all this in a 55 chevy with a 57 chevy motor that I raced at the drag strip and the streets. That car cost me 3 revocations to my drivers license.
After that we got civilized. Bought a fully loaded 1957 Oldsmobile 98 convertible, with a tri power J2 motor. We couldn't really go fully civilized.
Then I relapsed back to my old ways, but smarter
Last car we owned before transferring out here in 77 was the 66 GTO convertible. Should have taken that one with us !
Ah! Those were the days

I only have one revolver (set) right now but tomorrow I will put a second on layaway. This is a Dan Wesson Pistol Pack. The one I will claim tomorrow is a S&W Model 66-1, one of my favorites from them.

Thank you. So far I've only shot it with the 8" and 4" barrels. I've had a few 4" before so I knew what to expect. The 8" is a blast, though. I'm going to install the 2" barrel and rubber grips and see how I feel about carrying it.

One of my army mates in West Germany (he was a Texan) had one of these kits, wanted drinking money and asked me if I wanted to guy it for $45.00 - yah -
So I told him no, what the hell do I need a revolver for?
I cry a little harder each time I see one of these Dan Wesson kits. Someone hand me a tissue.

I dunno. Isn’t a 45acp SA revolver sacrilegious? 🤠. But I bet it’s a beauty!

:yo: Thanks, jg!
Beretta, how could you let that sweet one get away? To make a long story short, I was getting firearm bored, and I had never owned a 1911 model of anything, and money was in short supply, soooooooooooooooooooo I sold it. Good news, I sold it to a guy who shot a lot, with his wife, who was a better shooter than he..........................he had fallen down in his back yard the previous year and broke his wrist. No more racking slides for him, so he decided to switch to a revolver. It worked out for him, it was a 9mm model, had a wonderful trigger that went straight through from start to finish. That trigger was a hard one to find. He and his wife were able to continue their club and personal shooting. A very competitive couple. Bad news is I got a 1911 model and although I like the .45 caliber, don't care for the firearm. It's the only firearm I've ever had regrets selling, but it went to a good home, to people that would use it, and enjoy it. I went to his home and when he opened the box, I thought he was going to cry. He said, " You said it was nice, but I didn't expect it to be this nice." I got top dollar because of the condition, learned I didn't like 1911 models, and a couple were extremely happy. They were shooters.......................................... ........

I had a Speed Six once, sold it because they cylinder kept binding up. I bought it used so it must have been dropped or something. It was a great shooter and a great size, but kind of heavy to carry.

Someone once asked me to bob the hammer spur on a Speed Six. There was a small flat spot on the top of the hammer that I serrated for ease of decocking. I think it was on a speed six. It was over 30 yrs. ago.

To some mebbe. And I understand the comment. But other than occasional play with I really don't have much caring/use for .45 Colt. .45 ACP fer me more useful and ammo (large stock of which I have) compatible with all but a couple of my 1911s. For S/A revolver serious, I'm good with my .44 Mag.

My revolvers are all vanilla - .38 Special/.357 Mag and .44 Special/.44 Mag.
But I've definitely considered a 45 ACP revolver as I've got a few 45 ACP semi autos.

A nice thing about .45 ACP single actions is....no moon clips. Another, with the short barrels/ejector rod stroke, is no case hang ups upon ejectio

This is my favorite revolver because it's my ONLY revolver. S&W 686 plus Talo Edition 3". I carry it in a custom Wright Leather Works Predator holster. I put on the Altamont boot grips to make it better for CC. The only thing I don't like is the stupid internal lock keyhole above the cylinder release button. Great to shoot, but also great to just fondle and look at...

Sorry jg:o
I've not handled any myself, but your photos got me to reminiscing about that time period. A lot of peace officers frequented a small shop I helped out in back then and I remember the motor officers seemed to prefer Pythons and N frame Smiths. A common mod/add on that many of their guns had was a metal butt plate (for want of a better term). You ever see any of those?
Here's a shot of one from the S&W forum:

No Greg I never saw one Must have been on mod. 28s
But I did get to handle the Smolts and Cougers. The Smolts were a thing of beauty in balance and trigger pull. The Cougers not so much.
Back then I once in a while shot a Python in Steel Plate matches. There weren't many of us, maybe 10 shooters. I was in the top three. My main competition was a guy with a Smith mod 19. At the beep I could out draw him, but because of the Smith's grip angle he would get off his first shot on steel before I could align my front sight. A Smith's grip angle was more natural then me having to cock my wrist. Split seconds difference.
As you probably know the Smolts first came to be because of PPC shooting competitions. I never knew what the purpose was for the Cougers with their so so trigger pull.
When I got to shoot a Smolt I fell in love with it and offered to buy it. The guy was a true PPC competitor, so no sale. Then pistol smiths started to build PPC guns out of Smith mod 10s with bull barrels and sight ribs. So much for what was originally called Police Pistol Combat matches. Or later called Practical Pistol Competition matches.
I never really believed that the Smolt had a nicer trigger then a Python but the feel and balance made up for it. Shorter trigger pull, fast trigger return. Really for timed fire PPC shooting, trigger return wasn't a big thing
