Stoped at the LGS to pick up the ordered mag for the CZ 75B I purchased a couple of days back. What's the owner putting in the counter a CZ 97B. I said to myself ohhh nooo why me. It followed me home.

I love that. How's that thing feel in hand. Must feel good or it wouldn't have followed you home.

I've yet to find one to hold but been thinking about this one for quite a spell.

Nice pickup!
I've admired the 97, but they have felt overly large in my hand....until today; a guy had one at the range with thin aluminum grips installed and I liked it with those grips quite a bit. They were the same grips as on this 97 B:

Feels great. The grips are flat, on the 75B they are plastic with palm swell. The wood feels better than plastic on the 75 but the palm swell does fill the hand but disturbs my thumb placement. I may take a wack at making some wood grips.

I ran 200+ through the 75 before I picked up the 97 on the way home. That 75B is dead-nuts accurate. Shots a bit left consistently. I ran three mags at 25 yards standing and was amazed. It likes a hot load the 147 federal HST we're the most accurate at 10 yards, my 124 hand loads so-so.

Back to the range tomorrow. Not stopping at the LGS.

Yes they are addicting.

Greg it is kind of big. The wood grips are noticeably thinner 1.35 than the plastic palm swell 1.46 across the width of the grip. The grip on the 45 is thinner than the 9.

Front to back on the grip, what's that called, on 45 is 2.176 and 2.050 on the 9.

^^^ I saw a youtube somewheres that claimed these aluminum grips get you down to 1.18 (wide): I think they are just the ticket. Nice purchase BTW. That's been on my radar for a long time.

I put 120+ of my handloads 185, 200 & 230 through the 97b. At 10 yds. you punch out the center of the target. Amazing how accurate and soft shooting. Very little flip, shoots flat. The grip is huge, long trigger reach. I ordered LOK thin G10 grips. Built like a tank, over 3 pounds loaded. Fit and finish is great, lots of polished internal parts, unique screw on barrel bushing.

If your into big 45s check it out.

FYI for those looking at the 97b, the wood grip model is the California approved pistol, aluminum grip is for the rest of us. My LGS told me it's easier to find the CA version most of the time. Prices are the same but the grips and front sight are different. The year of build is engraved on the slide ahead of the ejection port.

Grip update. Installed LOK G10 on both CZs. Both are flat, no palm swell and more aggressive than OEM. 75b grips are .010 thinner than plastic OEM, totally different feel being flat. The 97b feels a lot better, no 2x4 in the hand, .117 total width. Shortens the grip length. Can't test it for a few days.

I really like the ones you have on the 97b.
