Thanks JAA,
I live at the Jersey Shore and it SUCKS driving out to this event.
But
A) It is a great show (2000 exhibitors)

B) There are No Gun shows in the Totalitarian State of New Jermany

a side note is it's not far from Valley Forge. So "Philly" isn't really accurate at all.

It is a great venue. Hope you do well. NJ may not be great for guns but you have the shore. Take care

Close enough, especially if you live where I do.
...from an Allentown, PA native.

Wow - just North of Allentown here.

You wouldn't recognize downtown Allentown. Huge improvement, at least in the courthouse area. A bit west, not so much....

Sadly, I don't get back there anymore. Mom and dad and their entire families were born and raised in the Allentown/the Lehigh valley, and remained there. But those ancestral generational folk are all gone now and, other than very fond memories, I no longer have ties. Closest I get these days is Harrisburg, three times a year. Sister and a couple of cousins migrated to and live in that area.

My family emigrated from war torn Europe after WW2. Back then, the industrial giant Bethlehem Steel was a sure and steady place of employment.

Having grown up and living in the Lehigh Valley my entire life, it's been painful to watch the death of Bethlehem Steel.

Located almost exactly in the middle of NYC and Philly, there are a lot of logistical advantages for industry. Many companies have moved here and prospered. Unemployment just doesn't exist. The biggest challenge is finding people that actually want to work. The economy is booming here.

Even the old site of the former steel plants has been largely reclaimed. Sands Casino, and numerous other businesses have taken over the bulk of it, but some historical reminders were left as a nod to history.

I recently had a chance to leave, but my immediate family is all still here. I'm staying - it's really a nice place to live, and has a bright future.

The American Dream is alive and well here - sorry Billy Joel....
