View Full Version : Which Kahr Next?

Over the years, I've collected several handguns which either fit my hand perfectly or are well-suited for a particular purpose (e.g., G19 for home defense, PM9/CW380 for CCW, BHP and Sig P228 for range shooting, etc.). Yep...ultimately all can be used for CCW with the proper belt, holster, attire, etc.

I'd never heard of Kahr until a good friend introduced me to their handguns about a year ago. Since then, I've become a real fan of the brand, its precision engineering, and simplicity. Now the question is: which Kahr will I purchase next?

I don't see myself adding another caliber, so .40 and .45 are out. I feel that my CCW needs are met with the CW380 and PM9, so there's really no need to duplicate those (small handgun) choices.

I really like the (premium) stainless steel models, so the leading contenders are the K9 (all black - K9094) or an MK9 (M9093). I'd like a good range handgun, but also the ability to possibly conceal carry down the road, so models like the T9 are not being considered.

I'd appreciate the insight of those who might have gone through the decision process of K9 vs. MK9. Also would appreciate other Kahr options that I may have overlooked to fit the role of both range gun and CCW.

Thanks

PM9, CW45, CT380, CW9 here.

Whenever I go the all steel Kahr route, it'll be the K9.
Have also thought about the "Elite" version of the K9, but I don't know what the difference is between the two except the higher price.

If you want a perfect hand fit put the T9 back into contention. I only held one, don't own one but it felt sooooo nice it was magical. Also not so big that it couldn't fill a concealed carry role, at least not for me. With the other things you mention the K9 is the obvious choice.
Easily concealable and while not what I consider a true range gun it will do well there too.

I bought an Ex-NYPD K9 on a lark to be a range gun. It's now my Favorite carry gun. I'd look there first...

I own an MK9, which is not a range gun.....................besides a few of the full size Kahr's, I wouldn't consider any of them to be "range guns".

My K9 is my primary carry gun and is easy to put a couple hundred rounds through at the range.

I have a PM9, an MK9, and a K9. MK9 is rather superfluous. Given you already have a PM9, unless you need/want more weight in that smaller size package, I'd get the K9.

I have the CW380,CM9, CW9, CW45 and recently T40.
Longer barrel = longer sight radius and more muzzle velocity. Heavier pistol = better for longer range time.
I could never quite warm up to the K9 considering balance and price but that is just me. The T40 suits me better. Never held a T9.
If you would carry OWB I would reconsider the T9.
IWB CW9 does quite nicely for me. I pocket and ankle carry the CM9
I do not quite see the need in your case for the smaller heavier MK9.
This is just me talking and me personally. I tend to go with what just "feels right" in my hand.

Bought a MK40 Elite for CCW.
It's small enough for pocket carry, but a bit too heavy for me.
Works well with ankle carry, but I don't run ankle holsters much.
Disappears on a belt, but the reduced capacity leaves me wanting more.
If I had it to do over again? Would get a K40 Elite.

So my recommendation to you is K9 Elite
