View Full Version : sig p365...a better look
shoot my p 365...loved it, except when time to clean😢....here we go
took here completly apart! heres a look @ internals!!! heres the internal trigger assembly!!
its easy to take apart! remove rear frame pin! its held in place inside frame with cotter pin! just knock out! right to left!
next...pull assembly from rear up! go slowly! unit held in place with rear pin and has a slot in front where assembly locks into!! what frame looks like empty....
next... take slide apart...there's a notch at the rear you push down and the rear plate is removed! Outcomes the striker assembly which looks very similar to a very beefed-up Glock Striker....
next... push down on the striker spring and remove the spring cups! I noticed something very similar the spring cups on the p365 look identical but much larger brother of the maritime spring cups for Glock enabling Glock to fire underwater makes me think if this was chosen? Not to shoot underwater but to make sure no debris gets in the channel and stops firing pin from moving?... look at complete atriker disassembled
next...look @ inside slide
next... for those wondering why you don't have to pull the trigger to remove the slide? I found that when you push down the slide takedown lever it automatically Cocks the connector/striker release down away from the striker... look at picture and see lower bar that goes to the rear
next... if you were wondering if the 12 round magazines were 10 round magazines with a plastic Mag extension adding more rounds? It turns out that sig designed a completely different magazine frame for the 12-round magazine!
next... clean her up put her back together in the reverse order the only thing I did not do is take apart the trigger assembly there's no need for that just simply clean it off and put it back into the frame! Be careful not to pull things apart little Springs may go flying
btw... I also checked the brass for primer depth strikes....looks good

Looks like a lot of pieces parts to deal with. May be easier when your hands are on it.

Great pics and details. I will definitely refer to this when I decide to do an in depth cleaning. I'm getting more primer smear than what yours looks like. Mine is first batch before RSA upgrade. Didn't send it in for upgrades because it runs great. I'm a big believer in "if it works don't F*** with it". I did have Sig send me the X-ray sights and I installed them myself. What is your 365's DOB?

Just picked up one today. Label on the box shows March 2018 date. So should have all the recent updates. Very pleased with the size and the weight of the P365. I took it out to the range and put 55 trouble free 115 GR practice rounds through it. Also quite impressed with the trigger, very similar to the P320 with nice short reset. Great sights too. I recently shot a G43 and it wasn't pleasant to shoot, whereas the P365 had less felt recoil to me. If it proves to be reliable , Sig has a winner.

Nice review, but really not necessary for us here in California...we will never see it on the "approved" list.

Nice gun. You say the trigger is similar to the 320? I have read, and I may be mistaken that the trigger is like a double action trigger, on the longer side with a 6.2 lb pull. Actually that is what I would prefer over a short crisp light trigger. Short reset would not personally matter to myself as I do not ride resets. It will be interesting to hear what others say about the trigger. Looks like a really nice gun and Congratulations! And thank you for taking the time to do the review.

I would say the trigger is close to the feel of the 320. Not long stroke at all. There is a little bit of take up then you feel the wall , then it breaks. Reset is audible and short. I'll put my trigger gauge on it later and get back to you. Averaged 5 lbs. 10 oz. on the gauge. Sure feels less than that though.
mine was born on 4/18....so far so good!!!
Only problem I'm keeping an eye on at the moment is the fire control group has a little bit of play (movement) inside the frame back and forth😰
besides that, I need to get used to the trigger even though it's 5 to 6 pounds it feels more like 3
btw...found out yesterday GRAY GUNS...will be coming out with laser stippled versions of the grip frame (module) spoke yesterday...about end of year....grips will be supplied by sig! hopefully different color frames also😁😁😁
almost forgot...sig will be making intergrated laser grip frames and maybe lights....built into frame itself....

That has been my experience also. Just checked the trigger gauge and it shows average of 5 lbs 10 oz. It sure doesn't feel like a six pound trigger. Awesome little gun so far.
got2have1....does your FCU...slightly move in frame????
btw....i see you have a p6...never take fully apart...lol what a pain to reassemble...hahaha

Here is a good review of the 365 trigger. I shot a used 320 about a month ago, and the trigger was way too light. It may have had a trigger job, could not tell you. However I like this trigger on the 365 much better, or at least from the video. He uses the term "Roll" which it appears to do. Seems much Longer than the 320, but in a good way. The trigger reset appears longer as well, but actually I think this will make the gun a better CCW.

It does move a very slight amount 1/32" right to left at the rear where the pin is. But not that I can discern anywhere else. Never had a P6 or P225 apart completely. I would definitely need help from youtube.
mine moves slightly front to back maybe 1/32...but for me its more noticable when i pull the trigger on an empty gun...

I also have some movement, not unlike my friends P320. It is a Polymer frame with a modular trigger group. Some movement will be present. It's full length steel rails will keep it accurate.
If you worry about movement you should have shot my Army issued 1911. I could see daylight through parts of that gun but it never jammed and shot just fine. Sometimes we are all guilty of overthinking and paying way too much attention to the internet.
Ignore everything but shooting that little sucker.
My concerns for the movement is just because of wear and tear... how the gun will hold up 1000 rounds or more from now.... not sure what the warranty is on the sigs....hmmmm, hopefully their life warranty

I shot mine again today with a buddy who wanted to try it out. He has a G43 for his carry. He was impressed in all aspects. We put another 50 rounds through it with no issues. I keep thinking how cool it is to have 10 in the mag. I just got on the list from Top Gun Supply for a 12 round mag.
The only thing about the 12 round mags is once inside they wiggle a little bit the 10 rounder and 10 round extended don't wiggle as much

For me.....I buy small gun to be SMALL. The 10 round mag is just fine. I really like the 365 fits pocket or in appendix holster and just disappears.
I agree but I buy the 12 rounders for the range and when it's in the safe it's in there with the biggest magazine but for carry I like to 10 Rounders

Me too. 12 rounders for range . Carry will be 10 rounds.

Perhaps it's just me but I like to shoot at range same setup I will be carrying. For me the 365 is not a target gun.

I agree with Jeepster09. I carry and shoot 10 round mags and 95% of the time I shoot my P365 offhand. I only own one 12 round mag and that is only used when at work where capacity may be my friend.

I finally got to hold one of these today. Ordered one for a detective, personal gun. It was much more impressive in person to me than in pictures.
I too would have to get used to the mag release. I couldn't get my hand far enough away without monkeying around to get the mag out.
It felt great in hand. The trigger surprised me the first pull. It was a bit heavy and a tad rough but I think that would work itself out just working it.
I don't feel an urgent rush to run out and buy one, me being a 45 guy but when the hands wrist etc start to give out, it might be a viable option, along with my K9 of course.

After 100 rounds the trigger smooths out real nice, and lightens up too. I really like the night sights. I think $499 is about the high end of what they are actually worth but I paid more than that although I did not pay the full $599 full retail. I want a 12 round mag. They are pricey but I’ll probably pick up one. May try to carry it it with 12 rounder and see how it goes. I’ve been feeling the need for more rounds on tap given the messed up news lately.

AIRret, You better try shooting one, you will like it. I have one it is so much easier to rack the slide than any of my Kahrs. I can't believe how easy it is to load. You can sling shot it and it loads every time. My handloads of 124 gr Gold Dot load as smooth as butter. It doesn't require 200 round break-in either. Reliable 100% from the first shot. Rated +P too. It is the easiest gun to rack the slide of all my compact and subcompact guns. Definitely easy for a woman to operate.

I hope to rent one soon..........
Of course there is always room for one more gun in the stable....The mag release issue would probably go away with training.
I love shooting 45's and 357's are great but my follow on shots with those calibers is slower than with a 9 so I normally carry a 9.
It's a balance....but a 45 is still my bedside gun.
Our night time preps. are hubby on Mosberg 930 with 45 back up and me on a Springfield M 13 + 1 45 and a phone with 911 already punched in.

We need to arrange a code or something, I don't want to be tossing pebbles at your window in the wee hours if I ever visit and meet that kind of resistance. The convict being a convict and all, he my scattergun me and ask questions later, you know how they are.
I didn't do it.....
I thought I heard that the mag release on the Sig is reversible. As I was playing with it, I thought about swapping it and using my index business finger to release the mag? Just so small that I hit the button ok but my hand is entrapping the magazine, so it don't slide out and even hard to grab with the weak hand. Actually I don't have a weak hand but I don't do much with my left, it's mostly there for balance and cosmetic reasons.
I can still break sticks of spaghetti with it just as good as my right. Sometimes on a good day, two at once.

The P365 mag release is reversible. It is small and that is by design. Small guns involve putting fingers in places they are not normally located and with recoil, a mag drop is possible.
I figure with 10+1 rounds in the small mag and 12+1 in the extended mag, if I run out of ammo in a gunfight, I should have brought a friend. All this from a guy who thought I climbed a mountain when I went from five in my S&W snubbies to six in my Kimber K6s.

I'll have to try it with my thumb. As a lefty since 2011 I've gotten used to using my index (trigger) finger on the mag......we will see the next time I handle one.
If I have my right "support" hand also on the gun I can use my right hand "social" finger to reach under the trigger gard and push the mag release. It works great but there is one HUGE limitation to that technique.....If I need to retain the exiting magazine I'm out of luck because both hands are occupied!
Bawanna
08-24-2018, 08:19 PM
The 365 is small enough you could probably hit the release with your social finger and still retain the mag. Actually that's my issue, not retaining the mag. Course as 340 said with 10 rounds a quick mag swap probably won't be necessary.
With the reversible release you got good options.

After 12 shots the fight will be over and you can just use your thumb to eject the spent mag. The fight will be over, you can take your time to put a new mag in place.

It's amazingly small for the capacity.
I'll wait a while for them to get the bugs worked out...

Indoor range near me has a P365 to rent, so I actually got a chance to shoot it. It was fun and I liked everything about it, except the weight. Its much heavier than my CW380, especially loaded. But it's accurate, surprisingly pleasant to shoot and the size is almost miraculous for its capacity. For anyone interested in a 9mm pocket pistol I think you have to at least consider it.

I find my PM9 in a leather holster to be perfect for pocket carry BUT, lately I have been carrying AWIB and using a Vedder LightTuck and my P365. This setup fully allows me to have my shirt tucked in and go unnoticed.
