No doubt about it, Alphonse's Lakeline metal follower (https://lakelinellc.com/shop/metal-magazine-follower-for-9mm-kahr/) for Kahr 9mm magazines works like a charm, but I'm usually pleased when I can acquire one of the "MK" marked magazines with the old folded steel follower. I just received this one from an Ebay auction and it looks as if it might never have been used:)

I've yet to have an issue with these mags in my MK9.

Didn't know metal followers existed. Are they from very early production?

I believe that is the case. I had only seen them in photos until I bought an early production "GA" prefix serial numbered MK9 that came with one.
I have since found several on auction sights. Here's the one that came in the MK9:

Greg, do you know if Kahr ever made a mag like this with metal flook plate & flower for the t9? Also, do you know if a 1911, 9mm mag can be modified like you did with the p series guns? I’ve just finished moving 4 mags for my p45 with good success. I’m looking for a deal on a p9, but I’m not crazy about the Kahr mags with the black plastic base plates! Thanks Gary

Gary,
I don't know for sure, but I haven't seen any T9 mags with that style metal follower and floor plate (truthfully, I haven't looked much for them either).
If you find one of those magazines for the MK series, the follower and floor plate could certainly swapped into a T9 magazine tube.
You could also look at Lakeline LLC's metal follower and a flat metal floor plate from Kahr

As to 1911 9mm magazines:
They are too large (front to back and side to side) to fit in Kahr 9mm and .40S&W pistols.

Greg

Greg, thanks for the info on the mags. I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting a T9 and was wanting some more information before I spent the money. Thanks for your help! U R THE MAN !!!

You can buy the metal floor plates direct from Kahr for $8. They are flat but work fine. It is a fiarly easy swap.

The plastic magazine followers came about as a result of the early metal magazine followers causing the magazines to loose rounds. I remember switching the metal followers out for the plastic ones well over 15 years ago and my magazines never lost a round again. I don't know what the Lakeline ones are like in this regard. They look nice, but I had heard issues with the barrel hitting the front of the followers with those. They may have fixed the issue by now.

The barrel hitting the followers was mostly on 40's. Many here experienced losing rounds even with the plastic followers, most cured it by tweaking the feed lips on the mag.
I've not heard of the barrel hitting the follower on any with the Lakeline followers.

Better late than never (new member here), but thanks for this thread. I've been contemplating some Lakeline metal followers for my P9 mags and you folks made up my mind.

getsome, in this case I think it's more of a fix (shame on Kahr). Now I have to get off my procrastinating can and order them. Then when they get here, I'll have to get off my procrastinating can and install them. I procrastinate a lot...

They arrived last week. I installed them and tested fired the magazines several times. They worked perfectly and do seem to hold that top round much more securely. If you at all carry a Kahr pistol, I'd also recommend getting these followers, at least for the carry magazines., which is what I did.

Can't find metal follower for PM9 magazines on Lakeline's website. They only show them for 40 caliber. Do they still make them for the PM9?

I see what you mean, their website doesn’t show the Kahr 9 followers so shoot them an email at info@lakeline.com and ask because the Kahr 9 metal followers were one of their their first products they marketed and I’m pretty sure they are still available and I will tell you, they work very well so good luck…….

I'm onboard with getsome's excellent advice in regards to contacting Lakeline about the 9mm follower. I also agree that they work very well. I stiil use them in some of my magazines.

I use MagGuts' product in my other magazines. They are a few dollars more, but work very well and add capacity: https://magguts.com/product-category/kahr/kahr-kahr/
