Will the PM9 newer version slide fit a PM40 or CM40 frame??

Thanks.

Question: Do you believe that the placement of the ejector is the same for 9mm and 40 calibre cartridges?

Please allow me to continue...

The cartridge case of the 40 calibre Smith & Wesson is appreciably greater in diameter than that of the 9mm Parabellum. For that very reason, the placement of the ejector must be further from the central axis of the pistol. That lateral displacement of the ejector precludes the interchangeable slides, as there must also be a corresponding slot for the ejector placed within the slide. Some exceedingly clever designs have worked out a means by which the same receiver may be used for both calibres. Kahr, to the best of my knowledge and experience, has not.

I went the other way, putting a PM40 top end on a CM9. I had no issues with it.

I'd say to make sure the barrel lugs match the cut in the frame. My CM9's barrel had a stepped barrel lug with the frame cut to accept the step. The PM40 top end's barrel also had the "step"

The reason I say to check is that my P40 Covert in 40 does not have the step on the barrel lug. That 40 top end will fit on my CW9, but the CW9's top end will not fit on the P40 frame as there is no cut to accommodate the step.

To summarize, as long as the host frame is cut to accommodate a "stepped barrel lug" I think there is a good chance that a conversion would work, but do so at your own risk.
The above is just something I did, it's not a tutorial.

BTW, that P40 is an old blunt end style.
