I can not lie, I like stag. Recently, I procrastinated on bidding for a knife and lost out on it. To assuge the pain of that, I've been patrolling auctions sites for stag handled knives. I found three that I liked and won auctions for them.
I thought to share them here and they are the first three below. I also thought I'd post up some of (most of) my other stag handled knives.
Let me know what you think and please share anything you have.

Not the best of grinds, but well made and I like the look.

Custom skinner with a very well done distal taper
https://i.postimg.cc/HLkWGL3h/kn3.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
Called a Gaucho knife and has a Spanish notch.
https://i.postimg.cc/j5kbYQCW/kn1.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
This is more like the Gaucho knives I'm familar with
https://i.postimg.cc/596g3dd5/kn8.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
Custom skinner from a feller in Missouri
https://i.postimg.cc/J48LVnz5/kn4.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
Two Jagdmesser (hunting knives) They might qualify as nickers.
https://i.postimg.cc/cL6kVywc/kn5.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
https://i.postimg.cc/7LRGPRsD/kn9.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
Probably in the same class as the two above, but a cuchillo made in Spain

to be continued....

Custom drop point

Custom from a European maker who's name I can't remember

Bill Buxton knife: early work, I can't afford his later stuff.
https://i.postimg.cc/Qd9rGnTc/kn12.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
Kind of an ugly knife that I think was made from a saw blade. Despite the rough appearance, it's a solid, well constructed knife that cuts very well.
https://i.postimg.cc/SKFH0Qqp/kn10.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

Speaking of cutting well, this knife, while sans stag, cuts too well. Damn thing has an attitude and will cut you if you look at it wrong. The photo hardly conveys it's size as it's over 12" long with a nearly 7.5" blade made from thin stock.

For some firearm content, here's my square butt Model 36 with polished whitetail grips

Some beautiful knives and nothing goes with stag as well as damascus.

Ironically your ugly knife was one of my favorites.

Maybe there's not such thing as an ugly knife?

Here's a little bowie made in Nepal that I hung some stag on. Sadly I let a fella talk me out of it.

This is one I carry every day or did until about 6 months ago when I got another very similar by a different maker that's slightly thinner and lighter and I like the shape of just a tad better. I hung the antler on both, got lucky and it works well.
https://i.postimg.cc/Dyn5hXrf/DSCN6950.jpg (https://postimg.cc/6TbCLTbF)
Another little Nepali knife I put some antler on. I sent it back to the owner as it appealed to her. Thought I had enough knives. I was wrong, kind of miss this one too.
https://i.postimg.cc/RVmJR3GY/DSCN7457.jpg (https://postimg.cc/9zxfXQ6P)
This one went back with the last one as a pair. Miss them both.

https://i.postimg.cc/Ghr2XB6K/DSCN7471.jpg (https://postimg.cc/XXH4JvjB)
Couple little ones I still have. Called a Sarge knife, made by Bura. Very special.
https://i.postimg.cc/BQsx3jkJ/DSCN7482.jpg (https://postimg.cc/G97BJmbf)
Guess I don't have a photo of my current everyday carry bowie. Guess I'll have to take one and a few others whilst I'm at it but that's a task for another day.

Colonel suh! You've been holding out on us:mad:
Fabulous work on all of them, but I really like the two above. The bottom one looks like a Nepali/Bawanna take on the Sgian Dubh.
The top knife just sings to me.
You need to post more of your work.

Greg

It's all downhill from got2hav1's Colt beauty, but I did add this Bowie knife recently:
https://i.postimg.cc/d3FY14sy/stagdamsucusbowie.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

Speaking of Bowie knives: while this one is is the antithesis of what has been posted above, I'm really tickled with my TOPS Prather War Bowie. It has perfect balance for me, is made of quality materials, and the craftsmanship is top notch.

Please forgive the digression, but it really sings to me.:w00t:

GB, on your Goucho knife, is that spanish notch just decorative or does it serve a purpose?

I believe it's just decorative, but there are a lot of opinions out there about them.
There is a pretty cool photo of notches, choils, and integrals in this old thread at knifeseek.com: http://www.knifeseek.com/forum/showthread.php?t=38778

Great, thanks for the link. Those are fantastic knifes! All I have is a Kabar. The damascus knives, as Bawanna would put it, makes my pants poke out in the front....LOL.

I confess my ignorance. What, technically defines a stag handle or gun grip? Does the material need to be antler, bone, or ...? I’ve wondered.

To me, it's a handle or grips made of antler from members of the deer family (Cervidae). I'd guess the usage of the term "stag" came about because antlers are mostly found on males.

IMO, horn (in this instance, ram's) also makes for a nice handle:

Stag = antler/horn. Well now I’m a little more educated. Thanks guys. I try to learn something new every day. Keeps my 73 year old brain sharp.

This is about the only knife I use, but it still galls me that various security checkpoints (not TSA) refuse to allow me to carry it into their venues on my keychain.
