I am really struggling to get the slide release, take down pin out to remove the slide from my PM9. I line up the witness marks and have struck it with a hard object to try to get it started. I have not used my hammer and punch yet. Any suggestions?

Line up the notch on the bottom of the slide with the little ear that sticks up on the slide stop lever.
The witness marks might be off a bit or whatever. I don't even look at those, I look at the notch.
Once lined up, all it takes is a little tap. Once it pops out of the notch your home free.
They do loosen up after disassembling them several times. On my new Kahrs I usually use a flat blade screwdriver to pry up underneath the lever right next to the pin, CAREFULLY to prevent damage to the spring and/or frame, after first popping the pin with my index finger from the other side. All my Kahrs though, after awhile get to the point where I can pop the pin and then grab the lever between my index finger and thumb and pull it up and out. And like the Colonel I look closely at the notch during disassembly and reassembly, not the witness marks. I also put some oil on the pin after cleaning the gun.

You were right. The witness marks were installed by Stevie Wonder. I moved the slide back till I felt the pin yield. Thanks again guys.
