I have a taste for the exotic, the different, the unusual, even flavored coffee, so when I saw one of these in the used guns cabinet at my favorite shop I had to handle it:
Photo from this article: https://www.gunsamerica.com/digest/american-tacticals-polymer-frame-1911-pisto-the-fxh-45/https://i.postimg.cc/C1vJWR6F/ATI-Polymer-1911-18.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
Another article: https://www.tactical-life.com/firearms/american-tactical-fxh-45-pistol/

I found I like the way it feels in hand and nothing to complain about in regards to fit and finish. The styling and choice of materials (polymer frame) may not appeal to some, but by then I had already decided I wanted it. It didn't hurt (too much) that it was right at 4 bills out the door.
So here's mine (I've already swapped out the double diamond grips for something more...er..space age):

I've only 100 rounds through it at this point. It had one hiccup, but I had been a touch light with the lube. A little synthetic grease later and it ran just fine.
The trigger was a touch heavier than I like. I've addressed that, but haven't tested it yet.
Internals are series 70 1911.
As kind of a bonus, it came with an ACT-Mag magazine so I can finally try one of those in my P(CW)45 :)

Greg

Nice find, Greg. I prefer the lighter plastic frames... probably 10 ounces lighter in that pistol. :)

Sort of a CZ1911 by the look of it. I don't mind non-traditional as long as it works and looks cool.

At first look it didn't really sing to me, but as I look a bit more, it's rapidly growing on me. Could be a love story by the end of the day.

I have a new addition arriving end of the week, I'll share that at another time and another day.

Well...generally speaking, I don't care for the finger grooves on the front, they almost never fit my fingers. (I have large diameter fingers).
I assume it has a ramped barrel with the polyframe, which is a good thing.
Are those glock sights?

I like it as it reminds me of some of the competition .45’s. Kind of 2011 STI”ish”

Thanks Wynn. It is noticeably lighter.

I can agree with that; the slide does have a look similar to the P07/09/10 slides.

It's grown on me. I look forward to seeing your new addition. :)

I'm kind of lucky in that I've a size hand that the grooves always seem to fit. I usually prefer not to have them, but these work just fine for me.

It's not a ramped barrel. There is an alloy insert at the top of the frame that includes the raceway. Other than the 100 rounds I've put through it, I've no idea how many rounds it's seen, but the raceway looks close to pristine. I'll use mostly ball in it, but think Golden Sabers will not be too hard on it. If it continues to grow on me, I might buy and squirrel away a steel insert from EGW as a precautionary measure.

I seem to remember reading that it will take Glock sights, but I can't say for sure. The front sight is held on with a screw that looks as if it did come from a Glock. I also eyeballed the rear dovetail against that on a G26 slide and they look very close to identical in size and cut.

I can see where the holes in the front of the slide would remind one of the STI guns that are cut in a similar manner.

Greg

Granted lighter gets more and more preferable as I age gracefully (or not). It does look lots better than a glock for sure and takes real (1911) mags.
Ok, I'm officially in love, would you take 2 bills for it?

I will give you Bawanna's 2 bills [electric and gas] and throw in one of mine to make it 3 bills. They should make 'em 2 tone.

You two are way too generous, but I think I will hold on to it.:D :laser:

I'm not sure if either version is currently being produced, but there was a version with a flat dark earth frame:

Having just seen this, I'm still working at getting past the part where it kinda just hurts my 1911 traditionalist head.
