View Full Version : My New Arrival
Bawanna

I picked this up today couple days early, didn't expect it till Friday or early next week. Kind of wanted one for a while and as is my usual practice I checked with the local shop to see what he could do for me. Surprisingly he was very competitive with one I found on line. Even with free shipping he was close and ahead of the game by not having to pay a transfer fee like we're required to do here in Washington.
I kind of wanted this to try out a red dot sight that is apparently all the rage these days with law enforcement, especially for officers whose eyes are getting tired. We have one on duty who thinks it's just the cats pajama's. Personally I think it's like putting a scope on a lever rifle but soon as I can afford a decent red dot I shall give it a try.
It also has a light rail so I can use it for a night stand gun if all pans out. Magazines hold 20 rounds of.......9mm, so figure it's about equal to my Cbob with 8 45's, will carry a spare 20 rounder just to be safe.
Here she be.

A lot of good stuff for less than 450. Extra back straps, 4 sight plates for different sights, 3 different mag releases, small, medium and large, a holster that's basically a write off and some extra parts.
Co worker has one and says it's the most accurate pistol he owns, so maybe it will make me look good when we hit the range.

Congrats on the TP9SFX Bawanna! I've read good things about those and the video reviews I've seen are very positive:)

I've been shooting my sfx every range trip since I got it. The reflex sight is great!! I have a Vortex Viper. I've not found a flaw on the Canik. Might be my new favorite pistol. You'll enjoy this one.

Doubt there are enough days left for that to happen. You should take some ivory soap and wash your brain out for even thinking that kind of thought.
It's especially disturbing since several of the officers here are screaming to go back to 9's!!!! Took me 15 years to get these guys real guns, now they want to complete the circle and start all over gain with mouse guns. Sounds like it's going to happen, in part because 9's are the only ones you can get holsters for reflex sights which will probably happen soon too.
I think it might be time for me to move on. Sit on the porch, fondle my wood stocked 94 Winchester and my all steel 1911 and think about happy times of yesteryear while watching Wagon Train on MeTV.
One thing I discovered last night as I was checking out the new addition is it fits perfectly in a Blackhawk Serpa Glock 21 holster. I mean like it was meant for it.
The holster that came with it is kind of crazy. It's right hand/paddle that looks like a Serpa but says Canik on it, but the release lever is on the left side and you can't reach it or even touch it with the paddle attached. Somebody messed up big time on this one. It doesn't fit the gun anywhere near as well as the Blackhawk so that was kind of a good thing.
So far without shooting it, I'm very happy with it, got it at the local shop and saved an additional 15 bucks after running my debit card. Had a long discussion how banks are robbing business's increasing prices for consumers without doing much of anything and then make tons of money on CC interest. Just ain't right.

I think you should be sitting there with a SA revolver instead of a "Modern" 1911.

This ain't Dodge City and you ain't Bill Hickok, one of my favorite movies. I don't even have speakers here at work but I know all the words.

I'm not really a 9mm guy.
But am in the process of updating my Hk VP9 :)
I'll post pictures soon...

Yeah, rumor has it I'm turning into a 9mm fanboy. I got 2. A K9 and this Canik, neither one has been shot yet.
I'll have to check and see if I got any 9 around, think I have a little bit anyhow.

Might have a little bit of 9mm hanging around - LOL
VP9 Long Slide will look something like this (except with OEM 20 round mags...)

This is a fun thread. Maybe shooting a little .22 magnum might make you feel better about the 9mm Bawanna.

....., so maybe it will make me look good when we hit the range.
It's been almost two weeks boss, inquiring minds want to know how it shoots!
It's look has grown on me quite a bit. I like that they didn't stick any after-thought looking ambidextrous controls on it.
Regards.

Sorry to report that it remains unfired. I did take it apart and check it over and lube it up so she's ready.
I been working weekends at Tractor Supply putting stuff together, wheelbarrows, lawn mowers, furniture, you name it.
Now they want me to go to a second store an hour away and put stuff together for them too. Even paying mileage which isn't worth the trip.
Told them if you create an 8 day week, I'm your man.
I don't mind it, nice to do some hands on stuff and once it's built it sells but really cuts into the weekends.
I'm kind of anxious on this one. Sgt here has one and he says his is hands down his best shooting pistol and he has a few.
I might add I got a flush magazine for it (only holds 18 instead of 20) but it looks and feels more better to me.
If this makes the carry rotation and I'm known to carry large handguns the flush will ride in the gun and the 2 extended can be spares.
58 rounds on board, might make a 9 acceptable.

Now that sounds like a job I’d like. May have to check out the one near here. Do you get to tote the pm45 while there?
Bawanna
04-09-2019, 08:16 PM
No firearms allowed by employees in the building. Yes I tote the PM45 by itself. Leave the CBob in the truck.
Funny I've always hated the words some assembly required and now this. I got a little spot to work in , built myself a big bench since I can't work on the ground. Few things too big I have to build out in the bigger receiving area but most I can do in my own little world.
When I retire from the PD I might keep doing it a couple days a week or like now whenever I feel like it. No set hours.

Pretty much, I don't know what they expected when I showed up, but first day working off a folding picnic table I think I built like 8 wheelbarrows, put a dozen weed eaters together, a couple lawn mowers, and a rototiller. The assistant manager asked my wife who works there too if I could go any faster.
He told her not to tell me but she did.
He later told me the kids working there were lucky to get 2 wheelbarrows in a whole day. One put a fertilizer spreader together an had half a bag of parts left over when he was done, I had to take it completely apart and put it back together. Strange stuff. Now they don't let anybody build stuff but me.
Nice thing is go when I want, leave when I want, no supervisor. One kid told the boss that he would be my supervisor when she was on shift, boss told her he don't have no supervisor. I liked that a lot.
Now another store wants me to come down and build stuff for them. I'm trying to decline, surely (please don't call me Shirley) they can find somebody down there that can put stuff together.
Sad part is they want to make my wife a manager and if that happens I have to leave or do another store, can't have her managing me, their rules.
I told them she does anyhow, and I hardly even see her so what's the diff ya know?

I wish my wife would be offered a manager job anywhere. I’d quit working my normal job and go to tractor supply.

Thing holds 20 rounds in the supplied mags and 18 in a flush and it was like 450 out the door. Great value. Probably looks bigger than it is, it is big no question but not too big, ya know like mammary glands some aren't partial to.
Now who would not be partial to big but not too big?
^ That would be me. I prefer small to medium. Kinda okay with "big" if not fake.

You are a MAN in DEMAND!!!! Sounds like a good gig and an easy transition into retirement.
The blonde I guess I could be kinda okay with. The dark haired woman tho.....that just ain't gonna work.
And, on rthe ammo...5.56 is too small, even fer me. The .458 be too big.
Happy now? :)
