I pick up my first Kahr Pistol
tonight. It’s a CW380. Are there any prayers or incantations I need to perform before the range ? I’m going to clean it when I get it and manipulate the slide a couple hundred times. Then hit the range on Saturday. Fingers crossed.

Kahrs are an old design that has been around a while. Their quality control is pretty good too, and, IMHO, a lot better than S&W and Sig right now... Not trying to jinx it lol, but I believe your Kahr should do fine. If not, they'll take care of you.
Welcome to the club! Be sure to post some pics as well as a range report.

Somewhere on here there's "Proper Prep of a New Kahr" thread.
Welcome to the forum kb2qqm1.
The new Kahr prep thread is good, but a bit tedious to read through - all 24 pages of it.
Do your clean and lube 1st thing.
I have 2 CW380s. On the first one, I did the whole shebang on the prep thread, and the second, I just cleaned and lubed it. Both worked fine from round one.
You might want to avoid Fiocchi/Perfecta/BrassMaxx ammo. They're known offenders in the little Kahrs. That ammo isn't made to SAAMI specs, and Kahrs are. The dimensions of that ammo doesn't play nicely with 380 Kahrs.
Stick to quality brass cased domestic ammo like Federal (American Eagle), Blazer Brass, Remington, Winchester, etc. Some owners have problems with the flat nose Winchester white box ammo, but I haven't.
PMC Bronze (Korean made) also seems to work well for people in their little 380s.
Here's a lube diagram you may find helpful. Let us know how your new 380 works for you.

Thanks for ALL the replies ! I really do appreciate all of the great advice, especially the oil points. I picked it up tonight. Kahr, oiled it well.. it was dripping out of the bag :D But I will break it down tonight and fully clean it, and get acquainted. I have been Weapons Shield oil/grease. I love it. I bought 200 rounds of Federal FMJ this afternoon. I manipulated the slide a couple of hundred times. I left it in the safe locked back. I read the manual and the other posts about how to prep it. What a great resource you have here. Thank you for the warm welcome.

I just got back from the range. 200 rounds Federal FMJ. Shot everything perfectly. I only had ONE failure to eject. All nice primer strikes. It could have been a bad case. Who knows. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190511/1209acc7da88f0eeeb641b97ef22cac8.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190511/2dc73087c389d112c2cf7dd69b4ad3ca.jpg
That is actually pretty impressive. My Glock 19 and Glock 43 had 4 failures each out of the box even after cleaning.
I’m LOVING this CW380 !!!

Shop carefully and it will get a bit cheaper to shoot. I shot mixed brass reman and have a couple of failures to return fully to battery. A slap with the hand sends it home and it keeps things cheap. Federal for carry though. I love my cw380 and it is about the only gun I carry. Easy in the pocket. On the boarder north of Green Bay.

I just wanted to do the break-in. The federal was 19.99 a box. Now to find some carry ammo. Critical Defense or Hydroshock, or Corbon.

Congratulations on a successful day with your CW380.
I know I warned you about Fiocchi ammo, but Fiocchi Extrema doesn't seem to have any problems in the little Kahrs. The nickle plated brass of the Extrema is made in the US, if I'm not mistaken.
Extrema also uses the Hornady XTP bullet - a proven top performer in 380. I can often find Fiocchi Extrema for around $15 per box of 20.

Welcome kb2qqm1 (http://www.kahrtalk.com/member.php?18815-kb2qqm1),
I would also add Geco fmj to the bad list. Today at the range with my CT380, I had approximately 15 of 50 rounds fail to go fully into battery or fail to extract.
This is after 225 flawless rounds of fmj from Federal, Remington and Blazer as well as 5 mags full of Federal 99 grain HSTs, which is now my carry ammo.
After I finished the Geco box, I went back to the Blazer Brass without any failures thru several mags.
Upon closer inspection, the rims of the Geco cases appear to be slightly thicker than the Blazer, likely causing the failures.
I've heard of this with Fiocchi fmj, and maybe some others.
Also FWIW, Check out Magguts. They make replacement magazine spring and innard +1 kits for Kahr 380s and some other popular single stacks. I tested one out today with about 40 rounds and it worked as well as the factory setup.
Good Luck!

You would be well served to put in a Lakeline striker. The oem strikers are prone to break. Mine broke after a few hundred rounds and a lot of dry fire. Since the Lakeline thousands of rounds and lots of dry fire with no problem.

It’s a good idea if you’re willing to disassemble that part of the pistol.
The OEM striker in my CT380 was fine through 600 rounds but I replaced it anyway. Sleep much better at night now. [emoji6]

Thanks for the ammo suggestions and the firing pin info. I tear down ALL of my guns and clean and lubricate them throughly. Well not the firing pin channel of course. That’s supposed to be dry. As long as they break in good and are reliable I do not mind voiding the warranty. The Kahr is a $300 gun. My Glocks were $500 and change. In the scheme of things, the warranty means nothing to me. I have to know my firearms and know beyond a doubt they will work 100%. I clean them once per month even if they are not taken to the range. No dust bunnies. :)
