I found a set of Recover Tactical grips, https://www.recovertactical.com , in the 1/2 price cart at a local shop. I'd had seen them on the web and thought them interesting, but not enough to pay the asking price. The set I found was in great shape, so what the heck I'll give'em a try
I put them on one of my 1911s and think they feel pretty good, especially the front strap. I'm going to leave them on for at least one range trip. I find myself hoping that goes well as the grips have kind of grown on me:eek:

I like the looks of those. They look to me like something from one of those sci-fi alien movies of which I’m a fan.

Interesting but this ole cowboy wannabe will stick with stag.

Them sci-fi alien movies was always too scary for me. End up on the floor in a fatal position under my blankey sucking my thumb.

Guess there's 3 things scares me, snakes, bee's and sci-fi movies I reckon.

Does them grips end up being awfully fat? Kind of hard to tell.

They add a little to the front strap, but I think they improve the gripping surface there a considerable amount.
The side panel grip area is about as thick as the out of box, wood grips you find on many different makes of 1911 pistols.

Speaking of wood, how about this on my SIG 1911-22?

I think I just shat myself, had there been a sci fi movie clip in there it probably would have been the end of me, too much scary overload.
There isn't a big enough scattergun for that snake or that spider far as that goes.

I'm not sure I want to be your neighbor any more. Got serious reservations at the very least.

Heck, that’s just my back yard in the springtime.

My whole life I wanted to be a Texas Ranger, guess I'll check that off the bucket list. Wanted to chase desperadoes and cattle thieves, not snakes and spiders.

Guess you don't let kids play in the back yard too much huh. Or maybe kids in Texas is smarter than kids in California II (Washington).
I know they are smarter in Missouri and they get common sense at birth. Don't see that anymore round these parts.

Bees I can handle, but spiders and snakes...NO WAY! That rattle snake in the pic blends into the ground waaaaaay too well. That’s CREEPY!
Those are some of the nicest wood grips I’ve seen on your Sig. What kind of wood is that? How does the .22 shoot? Does it cycle the slide religiously? I’ve always wondered about the 1911 .22’s as the little .22’s I’ve had (Walther P22 and Ruger SR22) slides were super thin and lightweight, but would still not cycle without the higher velocity stuff. Is the Sig slide aluminum?

The grips were listed as being walnut and I've seen nothing about them to cause me to doubt that.

The SIG's slide is alloy. I shoot a lot of bulk ammo through it and it handles that just fine. It will shoot standard velocity stuff decently, but starts to stutter as it gets dirty. It will continue to run fine with the bulk stuff, but at some point even that will start to act up. However, that's usually well past the 500 round mark. The ATI GSG 1911 is virtually the same gun. There is aftermarket stuff available for both (for example: https://www.cwaccessories.com and https://www.tandemkross.com/GSGSig-1911-22-Accurizing-Kit_p_163.html ).

All spiders must die.

This right here. Especially the hairy ones.

Thankfully, we don't have tarantulas here, but we do have wolf spiders. They get almost as big, and they're one of only 3 venomous spiders found around here.

They're fast, and the females carry their babies on their backs. Nasty things.

We have those wolf spiders here too. They come out of everywhere in the spring. One time We had a big female get into the kitchen and she must have got into some bug spray because she had died, BUT THOSE BABY SPIDERS DIDN'T! They had come off her back by the hundreds and were spreading all directions like an invasion. That’s when I learned they carry their young.

Now I will admit that if I see one outside and far from the house I’ll let it live in hope it will get the giant tree roaches we have around here too. Funniest thing is if the wife sees one of those tree roaches near her foot she’ll climb up my back trying to get away from it.

how did we go from gun grips to insects???.

Guns with grips are used to kill insects. Duh?

Now I gotta look up tree roach. Nice thing about California II (Washington) is we don't got many insects or snakes that will kill ya. More on the east side, the good side of the state.

Maybe that's it, do these snakes and insects hate liberals and target them? Maybe that's why all the good states got em? Have to ponder this some.

Here you go. By the way, they fly too. Just seeing the picture makes me ask, where is my pistol....

Hey, the only fun thing about them is you can buy fake plastic ones that look like the real thing and really freak someone out.

Is that the same thing as a Locust? Them critters that wipe out the grain belt and farmers are only saved by Willie Nelson's farm aid concert?
Or a Roach, not to be confused with a roach clip which is a hippie smoke holder.
I'm trying to learn the lingo so I can do undercover narcotics, has to be better than driving this computer all day.

Thanks for the info. Those walnut grips sure have a nice graining to them, if that’s what it’s called. Looks exotic.
I may have to try that GSG then as I’ve seen them for really low prices on the used gun sites. That CW Accessories makes some really nice looking stuff too, and also at some good prices when compared to what that kind of stuff runs for higher caliber counterparts. I probably have 1k rounds of .22 in different grains/velocities, now I just need to get something again to shoot them with. Just got a 454 casull (Raging Bull) and man is that expensive to shoot! Can’t stay at the range long at that expense!!!

My Wolf spider story...
I was running around the state selling metal roofs when I needed to stay the night in Tampa. I found a cheap “roach” motel close enough to where I needed to be in the am. On entering the room I saw a HUGE Wolf spider on the wall, halfway hiding behind the nightstand. Ok. No biggie I thought. I settled in, waited for all of the prostitutes and druggies outside to quiet down and finally started to doze off. Just as I was about to go into a deep sleep guess what walks right across my face! I swatted him across the room, turned on the light and found him on the floor with all of his legs curled up tight. There was a big guts splatter on the wall where he hit. Night Night spider! Needless to say, I got no sleep that night!

Two questions.
1. Do these wolf spiders bite and are they poisonous?
2. Were any of the prostitutes cute?

As many of the wolf spiders as there are here, I’ve actually. never heard of anyone who has been bitten. I have met about 6 people in 47 years though that have been bitten by the brown recluse spiders that we have here. Two of them showed me how you can stick your finger into the area of the bite, making an indentation, and the indent stays there. Kind of turns the tissue into silly putty. Grossed me out! The barracks I stayed in for boot camp was infested with them. Part of our night time watch was skirting the bulkheads as we made our rounds, squashing them as they traversed their way from the windows (where they all lived, between the glass and permanently closed storm shutters) towards the racks/bunks. One poor recruit was bit on the ankle, had to have a chunk of his ankle cut out, so he got kicked out on a medical discharge.
The prostitutes in that area were a gross lot. I was a bit bewildered by how they would make any money!

We supposedly have them brown recluse spiders here. Don't know what they look like. Had a plumber buddy who was deathly afraid of them, he never got bit that I know of and he's still plumbing. He hated all spiders and always took a broom into crawl spaces.

Prostitution is a lot like being a gigilo, kind of seasonal. I did great but business is kind of tapering off lately. Think I might be losing my natural handsome good looks or something.

Lol! Well I hope you can at least earn enough for some range grade ammo every now and again! Aging out of a profession couldnÂ’t be too much fun! :D
