I had a dream last night that I had in my hand a 9mm single stack semiauto with a stainless steel finish and either night or fiber optic sights. I think it was DA, as in true double action. Not sure if such a beast exists. But it felt just right in my hand. I know I should never have sold my K9, but is this a sign that it’s time to replace it?

This says it’s a 9093N model with night sights, these sights look more like fiber optic. Are these tritium sights?

It may also have been a S&W 3953, but I’ve never liked these 3rd Gen Smiths. They don’t fit my hand well and I think the triggers are mediocre.

Those sights sure look like TRUGLO that have tritium to me.

I had a 3913. Good pistol, but it did feel a little awkward in hand and it has moved on.

I am a fan of full size, 45 caliber, 3rd generation S&W pistols, especially the 4506

At one point, I sold my K9 to a buddy, who traded it away. I missed it and was able to buy it back from his friend for what i sold it for.
I'm glad to have it back home.

Truglo TFX TG231A1W seems to be it. Did Kahr ever install these as original equipment? This is being sold as new.

I've never seen them sold with those sights.

Welcome to the club... Now we both need to get ourselves a T9.

I haven't ruled out a T9, it's just harder to justify the $.
I'm having trouble with magazines. The last round doesn't want to feed all the way. I checked them all and the spring is in correctly, they're smooth inside, and the followers move freely. It arrived used and broken in, but squeaky clean, so I didn't see a need to clean it more, but it wouldn't hurt I guess.

How many mags did it come with? Is that happening with all of the magazines? Wolffe has 20% extra power mag springs you could try. It's probably a simple and cheap fix, but the problem is figuring out what part needs replacing...

According to my Google research, others who had similar problems said it had to do with the mag spring and/or the extractor. If it were me, I'd just order replacements for both just to be on the safe side. Apparently, the CT/K/MK/P/PM/T/TP9 all use the same extractor, so if you have one of those models, you could interchange them to see if the extractor is the issue before ordering one. Whatever you decide to do, I'm interested in knowing what the problem is, so please report back when you figure it out.

Since getting more aquainted with revolvers, I started thinking about another older S&W. I love my 1006, (DA/SA), and remember liking the old 4506 (but never bought one). I shot a compact all steel S&W 9mm that I wasn't that impressed with (can't remember the model number; 20 yrs ago). The main reason I don't prioritize tracking down a used steel S&W is that I'm worried about finding parts and repair... it's the same reason my 1006 moved to the safe 15 years ago.

That's when you trade it, or sell it. No sense in keeping something you're afraid to shoot. It won't ever really be a collectors piece. I see many of these older S&W's for sale. Buy one for parts?????????????

Never said I was afraid to shoot it. I thought about a parts gun. We'll see. I woudn't mind picking up a 4 1/4" model too. That 1006 was my first and it will be my last... period.

Actually I have several guns I haven't shot in longer than that which I love and would never part with.
Be nice to have the time and range convenience to shoot them all regular but such is the world we live in.

Cleaning my CM9 and putting the inner tube back on the grip cured the nosediving rounds. It really flips without the rubber gripping surface, maybe that was it.
I haven’t had a chance to check the K9’s extractor yet.

Did you replace the recoil spring? Isn't a change recommended every 2k rounds or so?
Although my K9 is the old version, I haven't had issues with the last round not loading. On your CM9, are you sure you're holding it high enough? I used to notice the flip on the Kahr's more when I used a lower hold. Additionally, although I broke in the CM9 with factory mags, I have recently added the Lakeline followers for 2 of the mags (one on the original mag, one with my old Kahr mag that I changed with a Lakeline grip extension setup (3 peice). I haven't had any issues with them either (only put about 200 rounds through them since installation).
The only issue noticed on my CM9, was when I let my friend shoot it (he only has a G17) and he had a FTF on initial loading (he probably used the hand over slide grip). As a side note, I had to lightly bevel the grip corners on my CW45 with sandpaper (where it meets the top of the web of my hand), as stock the corners didn't work well with the higher hold. I had to do the same with my FNX9.

I do think the CM9’s problem was grip related. As for the K9, the previous owner said he only put about 275 rounds through it, so The recoil spring should be fine. OTOH, when racking it, if I don’t rack it vigorously it doesn’t return to battery. I suspect it’s extractor related and when I get a chance I’ll examine it.
