Question: Does it matter what ammo you select for the breaking in period? I've read a number of opinions (not here) about feed problems with this pistol, however not sure of the validity.
Thanks

I suggest FMJ all the way. Cheap and easy to find and feed. Remington or Winchester 115 FMJ is what I used and what I would suggest. No reason to use anything else for the break-in in my opinion, save your HP for later.

I start out every new pistol with good quality, brass cased, standard ball nose fmj until I've proven reliability. Then work up (or down) from there. I wouldn't even try the more expensive (and feed ramp agressive) jhp SD ammunition until a thorough work-out with ball nose, nor would I try the cheap aluminum cased CCI or low end commie stuff initially. That's just me though.

I appreciate the replies...To help with my understanding (being new to forum as well as gun owner terms) with/of community post...where can I receive a crash course of abbreviated terms used here?

just ask and someone will tell you :)

JHP - jacketd hollow point (self defense)
FMJ - full metal jacket (range, practice ammo)

Rooskie stuff like Wolf and Tula, plus some other Eastern European stuff. Most of the Wolf and Tula ammo is steel-cased and smoky, but cheap and goes bang.

Hi BugRunner, all you need to do is ask any employee at your favorite gun store for some good full metal jacket target ammo and they will steer you in the right direction.Ask for some well known brand name stuff like Winchester or Remington.Federal and American Eagle are another couple of good inexpensive ones.Even a clerk in the sporting goods section of Wally World should be able to help you find what you need.As far as gun terminology goes, anything you aren`t sure of,feel free to ask.Sharing information is one of the main reasons we`re here.No one knows it all and we`re constantly learning from each other. You`re in the right place.

Wally World is a good place to check. I buy LOTS of Federal 9mm 115-grain FMJ at $9.47 a box of 50 here. (The .45 ACP version is only $15.97 a box!)
Judicious online shopping can find deals, too. Sometimes you can find sales or discounts and deals. ammo engine is a good place to get listings:

AmmoEngine: 9mm / 9x19mm Parabellum (Luger), Instock For Sale Premium & Discount Ammunition, Ammo Deals (http://www.ammoengine.com/find/ammo/9mm)

Cabela's:

Golden Saber Bonded 124 +P 9mm 50 rds LE box (http://www.prestostore.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?ref=hotpig27&ct=65200&pd=304582)

9mm / 9x19 | SGAmmo.com (http://www.sgammo.com/catalog/pistol-ammunition/9mm-9x19)

These are a few places. Just shop for the best deal you can find, including shipping. Cabela's sometimes has free shipping on $99 or more or $150 or more orders... or other discounts and coupons, on top of sales. That's a good time to load up, especially if you want to buy 10 boxes or more and save.

I use Speer 124-grain +P Gold Dots... the Short barrel version, as my my defensive carry ammo.

One thing to add http://kahrtalk.com/kahr-tech/1957-how-about-abbreviation-thread-2.html#post34303 that should help plenty.

Only thing on this abbreviation thing is they keep thinking up new ones all the time. I think they lay awake at night and think up abbreviations srsly.

I sometimes find myself looking for the number pad so I can push 1 for english.

I carry Federal HST 147gn +P LE in my PM9. They can be hard to get but I found them at Kyle'sGunShop.com (http://www.kylesgunshop.com/) for $30 per box of 50. Kyle also has Speer Gold Dot 9mm 124gn +P LE (50 Rounds) for $29. Shipping is reasonable and if you get a few boxes even more so. He's a friendly guy and I've bought from him 3 times so far with excellent service.

Of course he carries target ammo also. If you can do it, I suggest you buy 500 rds at a time. I discovered that when I already bought the ammo, I'm more inclined to shoot than if I had to stop and look for it.
