New and old springs from my CW 380 after about 600 or more rounds. I certainly exceeded the spring life since I started noticing the slide move as I started to pull the trigger. The in battery mainspring force was not enough to hold the slide as the striker spring was being compressed.

I just installed a new pair of springs. I had forgotten how hard it was to install the springs into the slide. But I finally got it back together and it feels more like it did when new.

I think many of my early fail to fires occurred due to poor recoil springs. Often I’d be positive p380 was in battery but I didn’t realize how the slide will actually move rearward as the trigger is pulled if the springs are weak. Of course, taking the gun out of battery. I’ve accepted the fact that the recoil springs in the 380 need to be more often than any other firearm I own. I actually use old springs when I go to the range and put newer ones in when I come home and clean it. It’s not my edc but does get carried from time to time. It’s my favorite gun to shoot at the range. Although it may be replace by the K9. 😀😀
I have to replace the recoil springs in my P380 every 5-600 rounds as well. I always keep a couple of spare sets on hand, and yes it can be a real PITA to get them installed when new.
