I am in the process of buying two each of the guns I carry the most and enjoy. One of these will be a CM9. Now the question. I saw the video with The Firearms guy and the PM9 that had 40,000 rds through the gun. Yes, I believe the gun is very capable of that. But while I understand the basics differences between the CM and PM, I am not sure they are completely the same gun. Other than the barrel is there any reason why the CM would not do the same and go to 40,000 rds like the PM? Or should I go ahead and invest in a PM?
Thanks

I went with the cm9 simply because of price, it does all I require, accurate easy to carry and reliable, most shooters will never put 40k rounds though a gun,the Pm9
has different sights, different barrel, for me it was not worth the added price, all depends on your use and what your willing to spend.

I saw the video done by the Firearms Guy of a PM9 that had 40,000 rounds fire through it. So is the CM9 built the same as far as the innards and should get the same round count as the PM?

FWIW - the guy that owns that high round count PM9 is here on this forum.

Good Ol' Jocko.

The differences between the CM9 and the PM9 are not important as far as longevity goes. Some are cosmetic (engraving, machining). The PM9 barrel has polygonal rifling, and a slide stop pin that is MIM and has a machined pin (ground, actually). It's a two piece unit with the pin part actually pinned to the rest of the MIM unit. The CM9's 100% MIM one piece slide stop doesn't look quite as nice, but I've never heard of one failing.

The biggest difference to me is the CM9 doesn't have a front sight dovetail - the sight is pinned in, and plastic. This limits sight options, but Kahr does offer a Trijicon night sight option at a reasonable price, and it's good.

Kahr has said the polymer frame is identical between the PM and CMs. Really no reason a CM( shouldn't last basically forever, with the same spring change intervals as the PM series. Same springs, too.

Just my personal opinion... I picked up a CW45 on sale that I really like and carry. I later came across a TP45 on sale. I really like the aesthetics of the milling on the slide, and keep thinking of picking up a P45. Price aside, if I purchased the P45, I doubt I would be considering a CW45. Just a thought.

Thanks for the info. I love this little CM9 and I shoot often. Maybe I will reach 40,000 some day, maybe not, but the fact that it went so long speaks for the quality of the gun. Especially a small Micro 9mm. Bravo to Jocko. Job well done.

PS. If Jocko is listening, I would be interested in his Maintenance schedule. Any springs etc that should be replaced along the way etc.
Thanks

I have both a CM9 and a PM9... aside from the physical features, they are same-same... including 100% reliability. Obviously, I like the nice features of the high-dollar PM9, but that is all just fluff on what is otherwise a very reliable pistol... the CM9.

King Rat, get the CM9, use the cash difference to have a front dovetail milled; opens so much more sight options,TFO's for one. I did this to my EDC/COMP. CM9, which was the best choice I've made in many moons.my round count is a little over 10,000 (still on stock recoil spring assy. and going strong) as I shoot the CM in IDPA BUG DIV.
