I am using a MecGar Officers colt 1911 6 round magazine with the colt spring but a Kahr follower and it's been working fine, and is very flush fit with the gun. It does not always lock the slide back when empty, but I can live with that given how flush the base is to the grip. Had to remove a little material on the front of the bottom for the magazine to go all the way in.

Today i am shooting with the stock 6 round magazine with 7 rounds inserted. How?
I used the maggut spring from my Shield maggust +1 kit and a colt stamped steel metal .45 follower with the original Kahr base plate and retainer.
7 rounds fit and the magazine has been function fine so far. Will have to do more extensive testing, but this looks very promising. I have even contact Magguts asking them to develop this as a new product.

Something to test for is ability to insert a full mag into the base with lockup while the slide is forward. I've found problems at home or the range where a full mag could not be inserted and secured with the slide forward. This is USUALLY discovered while trying to load +1.

It's better to find this out before you're slowed down in a defensive situation. :D

It worked with one loaded in the chamber and slide locked forward. I alway give an extra slap on the baseplate to make sure that it is locked in with al that pressure.
I showed this to Magguts and they emailed back saying that they were definitely going to look into this combination.

Thanks for an interesting read!

I, too, run Officer's/Compact magazines in my P45 (converted CW45), but I use the Kahr spring and follower. That combo has worked pretty much without issue for me the last 9 years. That includes locking the slide back reliably.

I've found that 7 round Officer's/compact magazines do everything but lock the slide back so I sometimes carry one of them in my pistol. These mags have the style follower you show or use a polymer type. I think the "Devel/McCormick" style follower works fine if you bend the leading edge of the follower down a bit.

FWIW, folks on this board have reported that the Armscor ACT-MAG 1911 Officers 45 acp 7 RD Blued CIT45CSM - 54172 (http://gregcotellc.com/cart/armscorrock-island1911-actmag-c-152/armscor-actmag-1911-officers-45-acp-7-rd-blued-cit45csm-54172-p-1939.html) (and it's nickel counterpart) works fine and will lock the Kahr slide back. It's not a flush fit, but about looks to be much the same fit as the Kahr magazine.

I hope Magguts does follow through on your suggestion (thanks for doing that), even if it's just for another follower that reliably locks the slide back.

It would also be nice if Kahr would show their 45 guns a little more love....say like a metal base plate option:target:

Greg

A metal follower and base plate would be great! :)

I will say that Kahr, with a tad more thought, would do much better. If the value line took a Glock front sight and the 45s took 1911 mags and ran perfectly, it would help their sales.

From an OLD thread, it seems these function great but don't fit flush:

Can someone confirm and show a pic of what it looks like? Thanks.

There's a photo near the middle of the page (http://gregcotellc.com/cart/armscorrock-island1911-actmag-c-152/armscor-actmag-1911-officers-45-acp-7-rd-blued-cit45csm-54172-p-1939.html) that you and I linked to about these magazines that shows one in a CW45:photo:
yqtszhj started that thread you linked, so it's good to go in my book.

Greg

Is it possible to use 9mm 1911 mags for a Kahr S9 CW9?

They don't fit in my CW9, being slightly larger front to back and side to side.
Someday, I'd like to try a mag from Springfield Armory's EMP,
