Now that I've (finally) found a way to comfortably use my MK9 as an EDC (knock wood!), I think it may be time to explore some sight options to replace the dimming nights sights on mine.

I've been intrigued by the TFX Pro sights for a while, as they seem to be the best of both worlds for daytime and nighttime. Pricey, but my MK9 is worth it.

But I want to make sure that they are going to fit. TRUGLO seems to list the Kahr pistols universally in their sizing charts, so am I to assume that Kahrs all accept the same sights? I'd hate to buy them and find that they require some smithing work be done to the MK9 to make them fit.

As long as you have the "new" style dovetail they should fit. So would their Tritium PRO sights.

Oh, oh...that may be a problem. My pistol was manufactured in 1998, if memory serves.

This thread shows the difference between the new and the old. Thanks once again to Greg for the pics.

Thanks, guys. I'll check tomorrow. Expecting bad news, though.

Looks like XS is still selling Big Dots for the old dovetails. I've liked those on the other pistols that sport them, but I would've preferred the TRUGLO setup.

So you determined you have the old style sight dovetails. I like the XS sights myself.

I stopped using the TFX Pro sights and now use the TFO. The vials are larger and the sights are brighter than the TFX and I don't miss the orange circle.

I got some Tritium PRO sights from you a few months ago Al; they are good to go and the service was exceptional..as always!

Great news...I have a dimple!

Looks like I have a far bigger list of choices.

Thanks for all the help, guys.

FYI, the TFX sights are considerably tougher. There were issues with breakage of the fiber (I don't think you can see the vials) in some cases with the TFO since it isn't as well supported.

Thanks for that. I'm leaning toward the TFX anyway...I've been intrigued by those for a while.

Did they break with use or did they break during installation?

Just had another thought...will the TFX fit the P380 as well?

Because it'd be great to have the same sight setup on both my MK9 and P380.

Can I get the big brains here to help me with this? I've got some $$$ burning a hole in my pocket!

Send it, I'll take care of it for ya.

I'm not certain if the 380 has the same dovetail, I've heard that all the rears are the same as long as they are the new style.
But I got nothing solid to back that rumor up with at this time. I agree, the same sights on both guns would be ideal.

Ha! Ha! Thanks. I'm sure someone will be along eventually with the answer.

Well, that's disappointing. If so, I fail to see the pertinence? What am I missing here???

I dunno, but it's a good example of the TFX Pro sight picture.

Well, I decided to go right to the source, and got this back from TruGlo:

Below are our sight offerings for KAHR Arms pistols.

Models K, MK, P, PM, T and TP - (excludes P380)

TG13KA1PC TFX Pro green front (orange Focus Lock)/green rear
TG13KA1A TFX green front (white Focus Lock)/green rear
TG231K1W Tritium Pro (White Focus Lock)/green rear
TG131AT1 TFO green front/green rear
TG131AT1Y TFO green front/yellow rear

Please note, these sights will ONLY fit the above model pistols, with the new style dovetail cut, produced after 2004.

KAHR Arms pistols K, MK, P, PM , T and TP produced after 2004 will have a pronounced and easily identifiable dimple that has been machined into the rear bottom of the slide…see highlight in photo to properly identify this production mark

So it looks like we are out of luck with the P380 as far was TruGlo is concerned. :(

So this raises another bit of confusion. They say that the new dovetail came in 2004, and this can be confirmed via the dimple on the underside of the slide.

However, my MK9 (serial number GC00xx) has the pronounced dimple, yet--according to the charts I've seen--was manufactured circa 1998. So either Kahr started rolling out the updates earlier, or my MK9 got a new slide from the previous owner???

l'm inclined to question the 2004 date. My MK9 is a "GA" serial series and has the new style rear dovetail (and the dimple).

Greg

Okay, good to know. Makes a bit more sense now.
