red dot sight for old eyes

Having problems with the old eyes picking up my sights, especially in low light. I practice with point and shoot because I know the BG won't wait for me to find my glasses! Saw a show on one of the sports channels where they installed red dot sights on several pistols. Seemed only logical to me. Anyone here thought of or done this? Thoughts? Thinking of this for either my K9 or T9 because that is what I carry.

I've had/tried all colors of the rainbow. Nearsighted with an astigmatism...…………………………………..I always go back to white. It's the only color I can pick up consistently. I have XS night sights on one of my firearms for night time. Now, I just paint my front sights with Testors white enamel. Stays on well through cleaning but will come off with a tad of remover. Works as good as it gets for my eyes.

I've gone to red dot sights or lasers to enhance my shooting. Lasers in particular are easy on my old eyes. Nothing wrong with using what's available. One of my favorite guns is a K9 with a CT grip laser.

My old department is putting red dot sights on a lot of duty guns. Seems to be the trend. I'm fighting it long as I can, seems kind of Star Wars to me but it does work. I bought my Canik just to play with a Red Dot some day if I ever force myself to spend the money they get for the decent ones. The saga continues.

If it will help you, give it a try. In 2016 I arrived home just as (what I believe to have been) a three-man burglary team arrived for their planned visit. It was 1:30 AM and quite dark as this was before I had a streetlight installed. It didn't come to blows but I think I was able to communicate the seriousness of the matter.

After that I put laser grips onto every handgun in my carry battery. Later the laser grips put onto my S&W 638 proved invaluable in helping me put down a wounded raccoon with a precise headshot at 4:30 AM. I couldn't even use the sights on the weapon, not from my driver's seat, and approaching on foot was too dangerous as it was a blind curve and no "curb" to mention on both sides of the road. Shooting from the car was the best bet and the laser made that possible.

Give it a try! What do you have to lose? If you don't like it, sell the site, maybe on here even. Good luck.

I recently put one on my P365. Taking a little getting used to, but WOW! I love it!
The Outer Impact mount made it a breeze to install, without having to have the slide cut and for a pittance in comparison to the cost of a slide cut. I think the dovetail part of it could be easily cut (or milled I should say) to fit a K9. Somebody as industrious as Greg could probably make short work of it!

Crimson Trace Corporation made one to fit the Kahr K9, but it is discontinued. I found one about 2 months ago on ebay.com, before my K9 even arrived. I will PM you more pertinent information.

As another "red" option, Dawson Precision makes red fiber optic front sights for old & new Kahr dovetails.
