I had no desire, no need, no plans to purchase any firearms. You've heard that before, right? Well, a week or two ago I put my Ruger P90 in my desk drawer as a Pandemic Pistol. 8 rounds of 45ACP Baby, in a rugged super-accurate semiauto. What I liked about it is the trigger is "decock only" so there's no safety to forget to undo, the DA trigger is almost idiot-proof so I can be pretty sloppy in a panic and not shoot my eye out. I happen to think that's a pretty important safety feature, having spent the last 6 months or more shooting revolvers almost exclusively and coming to really appreciate double action. But I digress...
My main pistol caliber is 9mm, for the benefit of cheaper ammo and more capacity, and I kind of felt like looking for a P89 to be that gun, or maybe one of the handful of other DA/SA 9mm guns out there. I settled on the M&P9 years ago due to its ergonomics, but I've never really loved the thing. It's not as accurate as it could be, and I've just never warmed up to striker fired triggers. So I was dry firing the P90, which means every trigger pull is double action unless you cock it manually or thumb back the hammer. Then came the epiphany! This is like shooting a huge clunky Kahr! And I love the Kahr trigger. And Ruger made a P89DAO. A carry 9mm and a full size 9mm with similar triggers, what could go wrong? So...
Someone on Gunbroker had one for a fair price and it's on its way to me now.
